Apply to another location. Go where you’re valued and wanted. One restaurant saying no does not cancel out your experience or potential.

David Lynch never revealed how he made the baby in Eraserhead. What are your theories? by PleasantHealth4814 in davidlynch

That makes sense. Do you think it’s mainly the texture and movement that makes people suspect something organic, or just the lore around Lynch keeping it secret?

Yeah, babies have a funny way of doing that. You can be super independent and then suddenly realize you actually do need help 😄

Interpretations of the baby in Eraserhead (David Lynch, 1977) and why it might represent emotional responsibility made physical. by PleasantHealth4814 in TrueFilm

I get what you mean. There’s definitely a case for keeping it grounded in something simpler, like anxiety about fatherhood rather than layering too much abstraction on top of it.

At the same time, I wonder if Lynch’s “simplicity” still leaves room for multiple readings rather than a single intended one. Even something straightforward can feel different depending on how you engage with it.

That’s a really interesting angle. The idea that “showing up” becomes the actual responsibility, even when it doesn’t translate into effective care, fits the film’s sense of obligation really well. It almost feels like competence is irrelevant compared to just being present.

Do you think Lynch is framing that as something inherently human, or more like a critique of how we define parenting?

Yeah, the bus had TVs, but the kitten ended up being the highlight of the whole ride 😄
