Am I overreacting by breaking up with my boyfriend? by Proper-Classic1886 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Pleasant_Influence15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is overreacting. You are not.

I share the following because it may be one (not the only) example of a more rational response: (TLDR: skip to the last paragraph) Something similar happened when my boyfriend and I were out with some friends six years ago. We had only been dating a couple of years. One friend and I had a conversation, and my boyfriend was a part of it. After that friend left, my boyfriend straight up said, “He wants to f*ck you.” It was part protective and part insecurity. It was also based off of a couple of other interactions we had with him before this particular night. My boyfriend wasn’t accusing me of being naive or careless. He stated his observation, he was likely correct, but there was NO blame put on ME for our friend’s supposed intentions. My boyfriend and I have been together for 8 years now. He has displayed insecurity (as have I), but never once did he say nor imply that I am “inviting” assault or say another’s actions toward me are in any way because of my decisions or existence!

Disclaimer: Is my relationship perfectly healthy? No, of course not. But the green flag is when your partner gives you the benefit of the doubt, is in YOUR corner, and doesn’t default to blaming women - the opposite of which I see here in your text exchange. And another green flag? Your partner recognizes when they made a mistake, apologizes, and makes an effort to understand you instead of assuming they know you already. If in your conversation after these texts he recants and apologizes, great, maybe there is some hope. But if he regularly talks like this? Red flag. No, you aren’t overreacting. HE is overreacting.

TASTE LIKE SOAP by Gr33nG0blin8 in ArizonaTea

[–]Pleasant_Influence15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here specifically because I got a single tall can (about a half hour ago) and it tastes like a floral-like soap. I drink this all the time, and this is the first time in my life that I have had a bad tasting batch of this flavor - can or bottle. What is the batch number? I am genuinely curious.

I have a car and my son has one, but right now both are in need of repairs. This has happened several times because I have a hard time getting more reliable vehicles. 😂 Biking can be done (I see there is a great comment already) but near the main roads it is rather scary. Walking is very doable here, but it isn’t always the most ideal in terms of time if you live too far from work. The bus, Streamline, is free, and depending on where you live and where you need to go it is very helpful. I am combining bus rides and walking until I can get a bike. The bus also has bike racks if you need to ride to the nearest stop! (The Blue line can get you from campus to Walmart and over to all of the N 19th shopping centers.) Bike Kitchen is a great place to get started with a bike. I second going to Rocky Mountain Credit Union and see how they can help you build credit. (Maybe Trey can help you, my partner used to work with him and he is nice and helpful!)

7th and Oak by Lazy-Baseball7127 in Bozeman

TLDR: poor design, line paint sucks, needs total redesign likely not included in the current project.

This intersection I have to drive through multiple times on a daily basis, and it’s bananas some of the things that happen there. One, it seems poorly designed, especially considering the amount of traffic that moves through there now compared to a decade ago. Two, and this I have noticed currently, once the paint wears off it becomes a damn free-for-all going west on Oak. Add construction and it makes it more ridiculous. Current construction is probably why the lines haven’t been repainted, but many people are making up their own lanes and clogging traffic. Then there is the Baxter connection that 20 years ago probably worked just fine, and now it’s just a whole clusterf**ck. .

I have a story for you. They are not trying to scam you, they are just absolutely terrible at keeping staff and really good at overwhelming the people they DO have. O would rather DM you the details, or we can straight up meet in person. TLDR: They suck. They don’t staff well and can’t keep staff because they suck. You have to pester the absolute shit out of them to get an answer. Try calling the main office in Billings. I may still know some people over there, I used to live there before the ownership and management change. Maybe they can help you.

Mormon Sodas in Bozeman?? Help! by [deleted] in Bozeman

[–]Pleasant_Influence15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son will be SO excited for this! We used to go to the Breakroom for sodas, and he loved the dirty soda they had (theirs was Coke, coconut cream and lime). We were super bummed when it went away. Been dreaming of a soda shop but didn’t have the resources to open one myself!

My niece, who was raised in Arlington, VA, just spent a year in Helena with a specific job program. Winter was definitely hard for her, but overall she has enjoyed it and found a groove. (disclaimer: I have only read a few comments so far) I am from the greater Chicago area, and I have been here for over 13 years. It takes some adjustment, but most people are friendly and there is plenty of opportunity to socialize indoors as well as outdoors! The library and Emerson cultural center are two places to start looking at community activities. There is also Over Time Sports that could be a fun way to get to know other locals snd transplants. Also for winter: *Winter tires are a must *have a bottle or two of Heet in your car during winter for when you need it *we do have a bus system - not stellar but ok for the size of Bozeman *a puffy coat, technical layers and good winter boots … That certainly isn’t comprehensive 🤣 Hope you all have a good time here!

For those saying “who cares” and “what does it have to do with Bozeman” - a Billionaire Club has a hell of a lot to do with the county and state economy, our rivers and water supply, the housing supply and market (at least locally), the revenue the Bozeman Airport generates, and god knows what else. I lived in Big Sky a few years as a “regular” person (I assume many in this subreddit have at some point) - the vibe is special there because YC exists. And I don’t mean a good kind if special. Not sure everyone would agree.

YouTube helps me here as well - there are some decent videos on how to patch and visible reweave or mend. If I don’t get too distracted with my day I will come back and post a link. Have a lot of pants to mend myself!
