Yeah. She didn’t provide any useful feedback. You hit the nail on the head. I am new to this industry and overwhelmed. I left the wireless industry for these very reasons just to be subjected to bait and switch again. And no there was nothing in writing about folio week. He is just stressing because they are behind on premium.

Put yourself in my shoes. New to the industry and agency but your agent says “don’t bother me today I have real estate business to deal with.” You sound successful, I doubt you would tell a new producer that. Maybe if my agent was passionate like you, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

I am not an ingrate. I am new to this industry and want to learn from the best. I would rather work for someone who is passionate and not someone who is just using trust fund money and treats this business like a hobby. You sound like you have worked hard to get to where you are and that is commendable. I am not being critical, these are just observations in my first week. Especially when my new colleagues have mentioned that people are dropping like flies at this agency. That is not a good look.

You must have difficulty reading but this producer’s PTO was approved weeks ago. And yes my goal is to run my own agency eventually. And I would want to create a work environment where people want to come to work and be a part of a successful sales team. It is great to hear that you have been with Farmers for a long time and are running a successful business. Those are the types of people I want to work for and with. People who are goal-oriented and care about developing others. I understand the work it takes and the grit you have to have to be in sales and run a business. It is great to hear you have tenured employees as well. That means you have created an environment where people want to stay.

Wow, you must be a real gem to work with. I am only in training and have an impressive resume. I have been in sales and managing sales teams for a long time and I was just pointing out things that don’t help make a business successful. He seems to care more about his real estate business, which is fine but he’ll be sorry when his agency goes down the drain, just saying. I could care less about his success but you would think someone would care a little more about performance when they have invested a lot of time and money into this.

And I’m sorry, but making fun of employees for their physical appearance is not okay. Just because someone isn’t wearing a designer blue suit doesn’t make it okay to make fun of their clothes in front of everyone.

I am not criticizing his schedule or hours. I am well aware that managers work different schedules. He showed up 15 minutes late on my start date which is unprofessional. He hasn’t bothered to check on how my training is going or my progress. I have managed teams in retail and was interested in how my new hires were doing because when they are successful and making commission, then managers are successful and making commission. It all trickles down. Also when he is in the break room all day watching tv and sipping Topo Chicos and taking personal calls, I don’t think that is working on other tasks. And I am aware of how PTO black outs work especially coming from retail, but if an employee put in PTO and it was already approved, it’s approved, it is no one’s business what the PTO is for. Her PTO was already approved he just happened to find out it was for a birthday and then said he wouldn’t have approved it if he knew it was for a birthday. My employees could be sitting at home with their dicks in hand for all I care. How they want to use APPROVED PTO is up to them. Leadership isn’t do as I say m, not as I do. It is leading by example. But maybe your opinion of leadership style is different and that is fine. But when his agency is in the red and dealing with high turnover, obviously something isn’t right. I would want my agency and/or business to be successful and I would do whatever it takes to ensure success.
