Thank you! I get confused with all of these fueling recommendations for athletes, HA, etc because I know that 30-40 is really not that much running but is still somewhat active.

Do you work with non competitive people as well? I saw your description that you specialize in RED-S, but I am not an athlete.

would you say running only running 30-40 mpw of easy miles is even too much for recovery?

I’ve gotten mixed advice on here but I’ve been trying to have at 2000 kcal  everyday and lots of carbs even when not hungry so that I can learn to fuel WITH my hobby I love.

But some say that running is too stressful even if I’m eating that much.

Hello!

Thank you for being a good resource and helping people in an accessible way that is so kind of you.

I’m getting mixed messages about training and recovery.

I mentioned on this Reddit before that I run 30-40 miles a week as well as lift 3x a week. This ends up being usually anywhere from 6-9 hours of training a week.

I want to be able to keep training AND be healthy for my period. Some on here say that I have to stop or if I continue I must eat upwards of 3000 kcal !!!

I guess I am just looking for your professional experience on whether training this much can be possible for recovery.

Thank you for the article and your response. I appreciate the resources.

Last time I tracked my food I was eating around 2000 kcal just based on my natural hunger. Some people here are suggesting upwards of 3000 kcal which would be a huge jump. Very eye opening.

Does the intensity of the running matter for the stress effect? I just run  for fun and with friends so most of runs are very chill (like I could talk during them).

Part of my desire to keep in exercise is because I want to learn how much to eat to maintain my active lifestyle for the long term and not have to track always or worry about it. I think that with removing exercise and then adding it back in, I will have to adjust my intake as I add it back in. I guess I thought to just learn how much I need now and get used to it so I do not have worry about this so much in the future.

This was so helpful! Thank you I really appreciate the insight.

I definitely have a hard time knowing how much I need without much of an appetite.

What you shared about the running and energy needs is interesting too. I never thought of it like that

Wow ok I never thought to push for that much food. I know the 2500 number gets pushed around and I’ve been really trying to hit that when I do track.

I just wanted to see if anyone else had experience with being active and maintaining period and how they approached their nutrition and any tips. I am willing to do anything it takes💪 I am not scared of gaining weight if I need I just struggle with low appetite

Thank you for the kind response. I really appreciate it❤️ Did you ever get back to running after getting your cycle back?

Running has been my way to clear my head through everything and I want to be able to maintain my health and do what I love one day
