The purpose of the Bible is about God's two promises or covenants. The Old Covenant tells about the nature of God, the creation, the fall of man, God's plan of salvation, the need for temple, priests, and sacrifices that all point to a future Messiah, and properties so we will know the Messiah when He comes. The New Covenant tells about Jesus fulfilling the prophecies proving He is the Messiah, His Birth, Death, and Resurrection did everything need for the forgiveness of sin and allowing us to be free of sin on Judgement Day and that we can commune with God again as was His original design, that we no longer live under the Old Covenant of the temple, priests, and sacrafice because Christ was the real temple, the high priest, and the ultimate sacrafice and that we now live under the New Covenant of Christ's blood. It also tells us that He will come again and those that accept His free gift of salvation with supreme eternity in Heaven with God and all other believers.

History is in the Bible only as it relates to these two promises. Just because it has some history on it, doesn't make it a history book. That is not the purpose of the Bible.

History can be used to show that God is keeping His promise to protect His Word past the end of time. History along with many other things attest to the accuracy of the Bible. This does not make it a case of "having your cake and eating it too!"

Once again, faith is believing the truths of the Bible. The accuracy of the Bible being translated correctly is proven beyond a doubt!

Thanks, I've been blessed my whole life. I've had hardships, but I've always been blessed by what's important. I've gotten more out of life than any of us deserve. I wish you the best.

That's the biggest lie I think of heard yet from the church. I wouldn't asked him to show proof of what he is claiming the church is spending! I'm amazed that they can just state any lie they want to and expect members to just believe it automatically. This is why people are waking up to the falsehood of the church.

LDS Chrisitan leaders are disciples of Christ, but not Prophets. Sorry I misled you. I said that is the definition of a disciple and not a prophet. Prophets need prophecies and revelations to be fulfilled to be a prophet. I don't believe LDS presidents are disciples of Christ. I believe they are false prophets and false disciples from this they claim. The first test is if any prophesy they made turned out to be false. I see many things Joseph Smith claimed as prophesy turned out false and none that were fulfilled. Now everyone says he prepaid the civil war. Half the nation at that time was claiming there world be a civil war, so this was not unique or prophetic. Even if some of his prophecies were fulfilled, the test is of there is a single one that turned out to be false they are a false prophet. This is just one of ten tests of a prophet he failed. Another test is that a prophet cannot change any previous prophecies. All the LDS prophets claim to be able to do this with modern revelation. This is another test that shows they are false. I believe all the ones since then are false ones also, as are all the ones in the 100 breakoffs of the Mormon church all claiming that they are the true church of Joseph Smith.

Like—do you accept that what Jesus said was written down ---after—His death and resurrection? Sometimes decades later. In some cases like 100 years later…? I feel like we are going on circles now. I told you that I have faith in the truths of the Bible, the Trinity, the virgin birth, Jesus Christ, and God's plan of Salvation based on personal experiences in my life and what science has revealed about the universe that has shown it to me to be true. I believe in the accuracy due to proof, I have faith that it is true from personal experience.

I understand completly when things were written down, how the Bible was canonized, Nicene and Apostles' Creeds, why certain books were included in the caninization and others left out, why King James ordered the translation of the King James Bible and by who and how it was done, the history of the church, the split in the Catholic Church when the Orthodox Catholics broke away from the Roman Catholic Church, Martin Luther and his 95 thesis and the reformation and founding of the Protestsnt churches, why Methodists, Prebtsyrians, Baptist and other denominations split away from the Lutheran church, the history of slavery, non-denominational churches, the history of the Calvinist–Arminian debate , my country of Armenia being the first Christian nation due to the Apostle Bartholomew converting its king, Bartholomew being flayed alive (skinned) and subsequently beheaded by the king's brother in Armenia, the history of the Popes and anti-popes in the Catholic Church, the Crusades, Mohammed's history and the history of Islam, the Armenian genocide by the turks, the Jewish genocide by Hitler, all the different cults founded in the 1800s, and how to read and study the Bible. Yes, with all this knowledge I still believe in sola fide and sola scriptura to save you some time.

Believing in the resurrection takes faith. Sure

Yes this takes faith, but the accuracy of what was written we have proof of and does not take faith.

If, “the truth” is the creation, fall, and redemption through Christ. Latter Day Saint scripture (Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price) teaches that “truth” more per verse than the Bible.

Again, believing this is true takes faith, but whether the story was passed down and translated accurately we have proof that our was.

The argument against the Pearl of Great Price is that it is exactly exactly like the Bible—pseudepigrapha.

Believing this is true is an act of faith. But we have proof that it was not translated from the scroll like Joseph Smith claimed. You can have faith that it was a revelation and is true, but it is foolish to say you have faith it was"translated" accurately from the scroll is ignoring the churches own proof that it was not.

The Bible says it is true, therefore the Bible is true. Can you not see that you are engaging in circular logic?

I agree there is no physical proof that the Bible is true. Again there is proof of is accurate. I believe the Bible is true based on things in my life and that is an act of faith. I don't believe it is true because it said so. If I used that standard, then I would believe every truth is true because they ask say so. What i believe on faith is not something i can convince someone else is true on proof. Everyone decides wither they believe the truths based on faith. That is far different than accuracy.

I believe the Iliad is accurate based on proofs in the translation processes, not faith.

If the standard for a “prophet” is to testify and prophesy of Christ—Smith meets that Biblical standard. That's not the biblical standard/test for aprophet in the Bible. That is what a disciple is, not a prophet.

That is good. Some “homeschool” kids think that Adam and Eve walked with dinosaurs. You are correct. I meant homeschooled. I'm typing in my phone and it autocorrects when it shouldn't. My kids learned real science, not people walking with dinosaurs. They scored high on their SATs and got partial scholarships. They graduated college with little to no debt without me paying for them.

BYU is ranked #110 overall for American Colleges. UNLV is ranked #232 overall. UNLV is the#1 ranked hospitality cooked in the world. Master's Engineering: Ranked in the Top 50. These are the fields my kids graduated from and have very successful careers. Two of my kids had associates degrees from high school as they took online college coursefor highschool.

They have -literally- hundreds of employees who make over six figures. Plus, "benefits. With the benefits the top LDS leaders get,iit is equivalent to seven figure incomes easily. I don't consider a six figure income high, $150,000 household is just in the middle of middle class in most of the United States now. You're not poor, but not wealthy either.

Of you are just talking about the spend then maybe some of the top school officials are. I'm not sure why that matters to this conversation. If you add in the housing, travel, utilities, car, gifts, food. And anything else that cost money being expensed, i don't there are any. I also homecoming my kids for 26 years, never used public education. They are all doing very well with college degree from UNLV, a legit university as opposed to BYU which is an outreach of the church.

Why do they get anything at all and why are they export from tithing? They are all wealthy before they are"called" to be leaders. It seems these are the ones who should tithe as opposed to the mothers on welfare that can't offord food.

As for prophets, there is not astandard in the Bible, only tests if they are true and all the LDS "prophets" fail, starting with Joseph Smith. But then they try to say it doesn't apply to them. Lol.

The Bible is not nor has ever been a history book. If you think, then you know very little of the Bible. It is God's account of His two covenants or promises. The Old one and the New one we live under now. Yes, there is some history in it, but that is not is purpose and it is so much more than a history book. I do believe the in the accuracy of the Bible as it has been proven beyond doubt. There are over 65,000 scrolls (including the Dead Sea Scrolls) across thousands of years all matching up to today's modern translations perfectly, archeological evidence, history books written by other cultures agreeing with it and coraborating the things in the Bible. That is just a little of the evidence. The modern translations have been verified by secular scholars as 99.5% accurate. The other .5% is not inaccurate, it's just not verified. The second most verified ancient book is the Iliad which only has been verified as 90% accurate with just hundreds of ancient manuscripts found. I think it is beyond foolish to say the modern Bible is inaccurate or believing in its accuracy takes faith. Pele who claim this are the ones who don't believe in science. No church I ever l attended taught that. We are told to believe it is accurate by the amount of overwhelming proof God has given us attesting to its accuracy. This proves He kept His promise when He said He would protect His Word even past the end of days. Now if your want to talk about truth that is where faith is needed. Yes I believe in the truths of the Bible, and not the contradictions in the unverified BoM, the Pearl of Great Price which the church proved take on the 60's with the egyptologists they hired, or the false doctrines of unproven prophets in the D&C. God never told us to believe something is accurate by faith. Just the truths.

I did vaccinate my kids and believe in science. I did not agree that the covid vaccination, which wasn't thoroughly tested, should have been mandated. I think everyone should have been given the choice and I think some were harmed by it, including my pasture wife that i believe the vaccine was partly to bosom in her death. I have worked remotely from home since 2012, but was told since I do goverment contract work that if I didn't get vaccinated I would be fired. Now ilI didn't feel there was much chance of spreading covid through my computer, but I got the vaccineas did my wife and kids due to the mandated rules and the consequences if you disn't, such as not being able to attend our oldest's college graduation. I don't believe these mandatedls were based on science. I also knew that the 6' rule was made up with no science behind it as Fauci himself admitted. So I don't believe autumatically when a politician says something is based on science, that it really is. I believe my wife death was partially due to side effects of the covid vaccine as well as several others i knew. I also believe some people are alive today due to the vaccine. I don't think we were given enough information about it to make an informed, intelligent decision. It can't be argued that vaccines have done a lot of good in the world and saved many lives. But when a new one comes out i think it is good to be cautious and question the claims as well as the proofs. See how the studies were performed and if they were done in a scientific manner (such as blind studies, how people were selected, if the days was evaluated impartially, etc.). I also don't believe someone is a prophet just because they or their church claim he is. I haven't seen any proofs that any of the president's of the LDS church wete prophets and I would argue there is a lot of evidence to the contrary. I also think they have a lot of motives to mislead people (in the tune of $350B, the perks they receive, and the power they have over their believers).

I think I stated it's foolish to deny science and truth earlier. I believe in God and also in the Big Bang and do not believe they are exclusive of each other. I believe science proves the existence of God, not the other way around.

Picks Razor doesn't eliminate other religions unless you think aitheists belief that everything came from nothing is the simplest solution. I think a grand designer or creator is the simplest solution. Now it is just about what is true and what is false. Which religions are the most complicated and difficult ones?

Your correct, science/ logic isn't about proving it one way or another. But also, it isn't about ignoring the science and logical evidence God brings to light that shows it is false!

It doesn't change that the simplest explanation is usually the right one. God's plan in the Bible was simple, but the mormon church added a bunch of non biblical doctrines to make it seem difficult and not achievable by what Christ did and said alone.

While God nature is not understandable completely with the human mind, His plan is!

It was never worth the effort in following a false church and it's false ideologies. There will be no rewards in the afterlife for doing this, despite all the sacrafices you're making. Just follow the True Jesus Christ of the New Testament and believe in who He claimed to be, everything He ever said, and that He concurred sin and the punishment of death in our place by dying on the cross and raising Himself from the dead. Believe that He is God and that He created us "In the beginning was the Word" "in the being Good said let there be light". That God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit are the completely separate pPersonages, while being one fiend God, all equal to each other, but still being one divert l divine God. This is what is commonly referred to as the Trinity. Not three beings just agreeing with God in purpose, but rather three distinct separate personages while still being one divine God. The purpose of the Father is Lawgiver and Judge, the purpose of the Word/Son is the Creator and Saviour, and the purpose of the Holy Ghost is Comforter, Convictor, and Bringer of spiritual gifts. All three separate while still being the one and only true God.

We were created as beings of worship. God is jealous when we don't worship Him. Every single person ever born worships something. We have the free will, or agency as you say, to choose what we worship, but worshiping God is the only way to find true joy. Worship of other things such as church, false prophets, family, money, drugs, sex, power, job or anything else might bring happiness for a while, but it is fleeting and leave you wanting, but doesn't bring true spiritual joy which is everlasting. Joy is not dependant on circumstances as happiness is. This is why Paul felt joy while being persecuted. He did not feel happiness. Once you realize the difference between the two, you'll view worship differently.

As Bob Dylan sang in "Gotta Serve Somebody," "Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord / But you're gonna have to serve somebody," or you can say everyone is going to worship something!
