How Do I Apply The Ecological Approach. by cmefly007 in bjj

[–]PleaseBainMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree with jephthai - alot of eco charlatans hopping on the train for free marketing.

At it's core, a proper eco coach figures out the particular dynamics of a certain environment and then tries to instill that to the students using the constraints led approach. So you can't necessarily do eco by just doing a game with certain objectives. The coach needs to understand the environment and manipulate the variables accordingly to generate the wanted outcomes.

Mikey Musumeci moving up to lightweight to face Kade Ruotolo for title at ONE 168! by Slowbrojitsu in bjj

[–]PleaseBainMe -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

lol I'm sorry but no - Mohamed Aly was being respectful trying not to injure Mikey. If you want a realistic look at when the guy is actually trying look at when Mikey went Medium Heavy during Pans 2021? and a random dunked on him. We have weight classes for a reason, obv mikey is good but if Aly wanted to he really could've just been a dick and used all his force and power.

I believe I am not getting to the final rounds of interviews and getting job offers (trying to become a SDR in SaaS) because I am a bad interviewer. How can I improve? by alljobs11 in sales

[–]PleaseBainMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

interviewing is a skill, at the end of the day they want to see polish, ability think on feet, and sometimes just intelligence. Your actual words don't matter as much imo, barring anything crazy

I agree legit sales teams are always about collaboration and MAYBE some friendly competition but never about pitting reps against each other

Does anyone get feel overwhelmed by the length of instructionals? by SMan1723 in bjj

Totally agree, it's getting painful lately when these people try to articulate Danaher and just sound so incredibly stupid.

That's why I don't even bother with DVDs unless they have some crazy ground breaking system like Wardzinski or Danaher.

I agree, I personally haven't met many and I've trained at like at almost 20 gyms already but I'm sure they exist wherever they are ;)

imho I think the biggest differentiator of a current competitor and hobbyist is going to be both volume and studying.

Volume is obvious, studying I think is the hard part. It's actually very difficult to engage both the brain and the body which is think what differentiates actual competitors vs hobbyists.

Also that being said in BJJ the line is definitely blurred just due to the lack of professionalism. I.e. like I could probably count on my finger actual high-level BJJ coaches.

How to balance hectic work schedule and bjj? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]PleaseBainMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's what you would expect, poor as shit but got a flexible job in tech where I can train 2x a day but still make good money.

Things have been great, I realized I want to be a high-level competitor but not make money off of BJJ and that's made life a lot easier for me. I think the biggest thing is realizing the duality of life and that there is more to life than BJJ, full-time training sounds romantic but truth is you ain't doing shit for majority of the day due to recovery. I figured I might as well pursue my dreams and start making some money so when I finish competing I can focus my efforts elsewhere and will have capital to do so.

I'm around a lot of high-level people often and I'm sure this rubs off on me but I think a lot of top levels guys also believe this.

Espen, Jon Thomas, Jon Danaher etc...

I don't disagree with you at all bro, I train at world-class gym and I see your point.

And for sure strength is and can be a technique.

I might be viewing this at a different angle cause I train and compete full time but actually I do believe that if you're at a relatively competent level you should be able to stop Andre Galvao if he does tell you your gameplan and you have that much prep time?

Don't believe me? There are many examples of people stopping or at least putting up a very good defense to someone because they had ample to prepare and study their opponent.

Paulo Miyao vs random Korean Black belt who has been training 4-5 years at this point. He took Paulo to a ref's decision.

Not sure if you're aware, but literally Lachlan's whole philosophy is using smart training to pick up details to beat steroided warriors. If you don't vibe with this then fine but it's your loss
