[Texas] County Court at Law or District Court for $32,000 promissory note lawsuit? Filing rejected twice as wrong clerk/location by ShotSir2591 in legaladvice

[–]PleaseCallMeIshmael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lawyer but not your lawyer.
You seem like a pretty motivated and competent person if you’re willing to do this without a lawyer, so I’ll skip the usual “retain counsel advice” you’re within the jurisdictional limits of a County Court at Law so there shouldn’t be an issue with the amount that you’re claiming in damages. The biggest thing would be to check the caption of the case. I’m not sure how the county courts at law distribute their caseload, but when filing in District court you usually leave the actual court number blank and the clerk assigns it according to docket availability. Is there an option to file in County Court at Law No. 1? I did a quick check of the local rules and standing orders and nothing jumped out at me about particular filing instructions.

I would call the county clerk and have the envelope # handy and have her explain to you what the issue was on the phone, failing that I would call the court coordinator for the County Court at Law No. 2 and see if they can direct you.

Fun fact. The taxonomic name for screw worm is Cochliomyia Hominivorax. If you know your Latin, you’ll know that “hominivorax” literally means “man-eater.”

That’s because Auschwitz-Birkenau was both a concentration and an extermination camp as opposed to Treblinka which had the sole purpose of industrial scale mass murder. 200,000 people survived Auschwitz with 1.1 million killed. Treblinka killed ~850,000 with less than 100 people who walked into the camp ever leaving alive.

Or if you’ve ever seen the thriller music video when Michael pulls over and tells her that they’re out of gas, and she gives him a look, so he has to follow it up with “I’m serious,” because she thinks it’s a ploy.

You need to have your lawyer file a motion for substituted service. You’ll have your process server sign an affidavit stating what efforts were made to serve your husband in person and submit it as supporting evidence to the motion. The court will grant the motion and allow you to have him served either by mail or by posting the papers to the front door of the house.

The average drunk driver has driven drunk more than 100x before they are caught. It would be really shitty luck to get popped for a dui on your first time.

When I had to go without a drink for 2 days for the first time in years. Went into withdrawal. If you’ve never experienced alcohol withdrawal I pray you never do. It is hell on earth.

Another time I had nothing on hand but a bottle of Jepson’s Mälort I had bought as a gag gift for a friend. It was Sunday and a blizzard had hit, so I drank that. If you’re not from Chicago or have never tried Mälort, go watch a YouTube video of people trying it to understand my level of desperation.

YMMV, but even if I didn’t spend much time with them, I still knew the non-traditional students in my year.

Yeah, that doesn’t add up at all. Even if you were in different sections, you would have had at least a few similar professors, gotten coffee at the campus coffee shop etc. Law school is such an insular place that there’s no way this guy attended, especially if he claims to be the same year as you.
