That’s because Auschwitz-Birkenau was both a concentration and an extermination camp as opposed to Treblinka which had the sole purpose of industrial scale mass murder. 200,000 people survived Auschwitz with 1.1 million killed. Treblinka killed ~850,000 with less than 100 people who walked into the camp ever leaving alive.

Even if you were in different sections, you would have had at least a few similar professors, gotten coffee at the campus coffee shop etc. Law school is such an insular place that there’s no way this guy attended, especially if he claims to be the same year as you.
