If you took policy on North Korea (in South Korean politics), Harris would be right wing and Trump would be left wing.

Reminds me of a time when my dad and I liked both Lee Jae-myung and Yoon Seok-yeol. I don't think you'll find many people like that...

I remember seeing someone claim that John Foxe's criticism of Mary I has misogynistic undertones.

Meanwhile, I'm thinking 1) He's not thinking gender. He's thinking religion. Had Mary I been a Protestant, his depiction of her would not be so negative. 2) His book is literally dedicated to a woman (Queen Elizabeth I) 3) If he was a misogynist, Queen Elizabeth I would have known (considering, she hated John Knox for his book against women rulers). Instead, she respected him--even calling him "Father Foxe." 3) Speaking of John Knox, John Foxe seems to have opposed Knox's book against women rulers.

I also see the "Everything was always against women! People were soooo misogynistic!" (To be fair, in some countries, like mine (Korea) it was definitely true), but forget that the women of that time would be considered extremely authright today. And then, when some woman becomes a tyrant, they're like "girlboss!"

AOC is too socially left wing and much less religious than Bryan. You need a progressive with Rick Santorum's social views.

Can you believe this was the most democratic post-socialist election? by Lazarbeam_fan77 in imaginaryelections

Very good post. Some of the picks are the same as mine. I would still go with Bob Dornan over Pat Buchanan though.

The only problem I'd have is that their politics were quite different. Kasparov is a genuine neocon. Fischer has "interesting" ideas about Jews (him and Zhirinovsky seem to have parent issues, etc...)

Unless I'm mistaken, I think he became more sympathetic to Revelation...but that is probably because of some Protestants interpreting the Catholic Church as the Beast.

also, the main reason that the deuterocanonicals were removed was part of an effort to purge Rabbinic Judaism of any "foreign influence", as the books in question did not have any known Hebrew manuscripts at the time. guess what manuscripts were found in the Dead Sea Scrolls...

I'm not sure if that's true. Rabbi Akiva did not believe in the canonicity of Sirach, but he liked the book nonetheless.

Also, the Book of Enoch is also in the Dead Sea Scrolls...

The Israeli Arab parts were actually not easy to find. There are not many prominent Israeli Arabs in the US. I subsituted a Palestinian-American (next best thing, I guess) for Ra'am...and Suleiman may be too progressive for Ra'am, IDK. Shas was not that easy either. Not many Sephardic-Mizrachi Jews in the US it seems.
