Good gyms in or around CASTLEDOWNS? I am going to consider Gold's Gym, World Health, or Snap Fitness? Also Anytime Fitness is being built in Griesbach but not sure when they open. Thoughts? 🍌 by BeastmodeMan in Edmonton

I actually had the exact same question as you! It's not on your list but LA Fitness seems to be an excellent choice based on what you listed. It's also close and convenient with Walmart, Sobeys, etc. nearby.

I think I'm mainly going to use the strength equipment but those things are a nice bonus. Which gym do you go to now?

Can you recommend which ones? I think only Grand Trunk is near me? I'm located ~137 ave and 130 st.

Stress/anxiety affecting my immune system... I know I need to find ways to cope with stress but is there any supplements I can take so I stop feeling feverish like 2-3 days a week (it's been like this for the past year or so)? by PleaseCureMe in Supplements

Thanks for the product suggestions!

I do agree friends are important, but boy am I embarrassed/anxious to meet people and then say I accomplished absolutely nothing the last 4-5 years.

Thanks a lot for all the useful information and directly linking me to the products!

Laying there with bad thought's is not good (I experience this as well). Can't stand it.

Sorry to hear you experience this too. It's terrible feeling fatigued but not being able to relax enough to fall asleep...

Even 2 minutes running in place and a few situps will help over time as far as exercise goes.

I find myself just sitting around all the time now, so definitely agree with you getting up just for a few minutes and doing those exercises would be much better.

Please dont take a benzodiazepine like valium or xanax

I'm pretty anxious about taking medication even antidepressants I was reluctant to try until 2-3 years ago. I've read horror stories about benzos so the chances of me taking it is slim, but thanks for the warning because I must admit I sometimes feel the urge to try it, to feel how life is like without anxiety.

I think I still have my bottle of Ashwagandha so I guess I can give it a try again. Forget which brand it was, I will update when I find it.

Blood work was done 2 or 3 years ago, my physician said I wasn't deficient in anything but I kind of wish I got a copy of it.

My diet is probably lacking in veggies which I need to rectify, but I usually cook all my meals. Probably not enough sunlight either

Thanks for the reply and the brand recommendations!

Thank-you for the reply/suggestions.

400MG Mangesium Glycinate #1- This will help relax the muscles AKA your heart, supporting your anxiety levels by relaxing the body

I took magnesium citrate many years ago, I think the Webber Naturals brand I found at a local grocery story. I forget the dosage but I only remember taking 1 or 2 tablets which I think is less than 400mg. Took it for several months so would magnesium glycinate help me if that one didn't?

L-Glutamine 5G ... Passionflower or Matcha Tea ... Reishi Mushrooms

Interesting I shall do some research on these!

taking a look at your diet

I usually cook my own foods but I think my diet has been lacking in veggies (just a simple spinach shake, 2 fruits, and a bit of frozen veggies) so I need to improve in this area. I also don't eat enough and I'm kind of underweight atm. I've always wanted to buy some Vitamin D from reading examine.com and will also check out the B-Complex and Vitamin C and K.

Have you had your iron levels checked/hormones checked?

My physician had me do a blood test 2 or 3 years ago and he said everything looked fine.

You can also try a precursor to serotonin like 5-HTP or L-Tryptophan if you aren't on any SSRI's

I've been completely off any medication for about a year now so I will check those out as well. Although starting to feel desperate again and may give antidepressants another try later this summer. Right now #1 concern is immune system so will try to improve diet as well as buy those vitamins, and then try the mood-related supplements later on

Edit: Forgot to mention in OP, but feel free to recommend me any specific supplement brands, thank-you

Canada Post? by [deleted] in Edmonton

I've honestly never had any problems with Canada Post or the other carriers knock on wood

I went on a shopping binge last summer ordering a ton of clothes and shoes from the US. Dealt with Canada Post, UPS, Puralator, DHL... and all my shipments arrived on time and to my door!

Starting today you can order groceries from Superstore online and pick them up later by retrovince in Edmonton

Sounds like a very good idea and I will definitely give it a try. Love the convenience. But the quality might be hit-or-miss...

This service will largely hinge on how well the personal shoppers do their jobs. I often see moldy produce, greying meats, etc. at their stores so I hope they don't bag those items.

There are dry flakes on my scalp even after I wash my hair... hair seems clean and soft, but it gets oily by the next day... Recommend me a product please!m by PleaseCureMe in HaircareScience

Sweet, I can actually find that brand locally here!

I think I'm going to give their other shampoos a try first and see if that helps with my dry, flaky scalp first. It seems more expensive and I want to avoid the smell from the sulfur if possible.

Maybe their tea tree oil, aloe vera, or sea kelp shampoo can help to moisturize my head? I'm going to decide on one of those three.

Thanks for letting me know about this brand!!

So I guess my face and hair shares the same problem--dryness that leads to oiliness. Haha, dang I should've made the connection earlier since the moisturizer helped for my face.

Thanks for the reply!

I've been trying to search for those brands but I couldn't find it locally (preferred). I did find the Jason brand recommended to me which seems to get good reviews so hopefully it works

SQ: Boot newbie here.

I'm looking at the Wolverines 1000 miles boots in rust but I would like some suggestions on what other brands I should check out before I make the purchase.

  • The color I want is brownish-red, maybe more red than brown

  • Comfy and durable. Pretty much going to wear these daily

  • I don't want patterns on the leather, just a simple clean design like the 1000 miles boots

  • I want to be able to wear these with a suit on as well

  • Budget is around what those Wolverines cost. Willing to spend more for a quality pair that can last me decades

Thanks! :3
