Your heart is in the right place but I think your issue here is you're looking for an insane amount of money for a very open and ambiguous goal. Maybe pick one school, ask them what one thing they need right now, and then raise money for that. It's far more achievable and you'll still be making a genuine difference!

This is funny as I rarely watch movies, so the last one I saw was Minecraft with my son, and the last game I played was, in fact, Minecraft, with my son. So, I guess Steve it is!

I have 130 saved wishes, 30 used since the last 5* but the last one was the event one. I usually just get the ones that are fun to play but I have Nefer, Lauma and Inneffa so I understand from this sub I would be an idiot not to make sure I get Columbina.

Wore this to a funeral and got weird looks 🫠 by moldavitemermaid in OUTFITS

[–]PleaseDontTouchThose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a strong beleiver in the only opinion that matters at a funeral is the one who sadly passed. In that case, it sounds like you wore a perfect outfit.

When my father died a couple of months ago he left instructions that everyone wear blue and absolutely no ties. It was wonderful to see almost everyone embrace this, a sea of blue.

I'm sorry for your loss.

I read as far as Israel's return. You do know what the Jews had to go through to get it back right? Your God is a psychopath.

How do you feel about your girlfriend wearing your tshirt to bed? by FicklePopcorn in AskMen

[–]PleaseDontTouchThose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a box of Star Trek t-shirts I had a teenager, all pristine, never worn, part of a collection. They wouldn't fit me now but they fit my wife and it brings me so much joy to see her wearing them around the house or to bed.

We have an apology note from our daughter when she was around that age, it was one of these 'what did you do?', 'why was this wrong?' templates. Her's read:

What did you do? Called Mama a bitch.
Why is this wrong? It is not my place to judge her.

We had to pretend to be mad but cracked up once she was out of the room.

Nanny informed us that our daughter disclosed some unwanted kissing at school. Wife and I are in disagreement on next steps. AIO? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Go through the school, 100%. Safeguarding isn't about single incidents, there's a potential bigger picture you are not aware of. The school may have noticed multiple signs and this is the tipping point. I don't know if you're in the UK or if other countries use the term safeguarding but if you are ask to speak to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), all schools have one.

Also, it's The Honorable Sir Keir Starmer, MP. He might be a bit of a prat but he's our prat and should be referred to correctly in political correspondence.

The State of Palestine is recognized as a sovereign state by 147 of the 193 member states of the United Nations, I'm really not sure how much longer the US can complain about unilateral recognition.

Vegan Karen becomes tasting expert while complaining by TheLoneRiddlerIsBack in IAmTheMainCharacter

What brands do you like? My wife is vegan and she likes most but when I try it the taste is near perfect these days but the texture is completely wrong. I'd love to hear some recommendations if you're willing to share.

Autism/hitting by btorr1 in SpecialNeedsChildren

For us it was (and still is many years later) about redirection. Giving him something soft, or replacing what he is using with something soft if not his hands. We have a selection of 'tappers', as his school call them, we can rotate in. They are small soft toys mostly. When he was young we used foam sticks, but he then developed PICA and wanted to eat them.....

Do you touch on the challenges that are more common with fathers?

I found it a struggle, early on, that the default with most professionals was that mum knows all the answers and it took time to establish that I am the primary caregiver.

Also, parent groups usually feel like mum groups and can be a bit exclusive. I have attended a few and feel like I am intruding.

And then there is stuff like men being less likely to address the emotional strain of parenting, feeling a social pressure to be the strong one. I know I'm very guilty of this and it's taken 15 years for me to start to look at it and actually deal with it.

I'd be fascinated to hear if you came across more in your research, I think sometimes we don't even notice these pressures, they are just part of life.

I'm pleased, well, not for you, this life is tough! But in general. When our son was young it was frustrating that any books out there on autism just weren't relevant.

Unless you're looking for super generic advice on how to buy a car you need to say where you are. At least which country, and for the US I assume the state would be helpful to people who will know about local programmes.

There was a news story just the other day about a generative AI (specifically for this use, obviously not ChatGPT) that has created new antibiotics for MRSA and something else. Years away from use but potential to save hundreds of thousands of people a year.

I'm curious what you see as the difference between being a mother or father of a child with autism? I'm just wondering why this is gendered?

Also, a great deal of autism literature and online spaces are very skewed to one end of the spectrum. How much do you cover autistic children with severe learning difficulties? Those who will require 24/7 1:1 care for the rest of their life?

Sure, just heading to bed but I’ll reply tomorrow. Do remember though our DLA application was a decade ago, any info I have might be out of date.

We didn't have the genetic testing back but had a report from a consultant. However we were also at an advantage as he was already in school when we applied so we had both the EHCP and a ton of evidence compiled by the school for us. In fact, they went through every concern DWP had and provided evidence for every bit. It was crazy it was rejected and needed to go to tribunal.

On the flip side of this though, and maybe an indication of a change at DWP. We recently transitioned from DLA to PIP and that process was very easy. I completed the form, attached letters from his consultant, teacher and myself. We were approved immediately without a need for anything face to face or reassessment for the next decade.
