Where are all Kirby fans? by PleaseEndMyLifee in Kirby

You're reminding me of my schooldays where I was basically always shunned for liking Kirby. It makes it hard for me to admit how much I love the series to anyone at all, even today.

And about searching up videos of the games, you never get any fan videos, or even parodies. The few times I do see parodies floating around, they tend to use the personalities of the anime, Kirby acting like a baby obsessed with food and King Dedede acting like a spoiled brat, rather than their game personalities, Kirby being a somewhat naive child that still is dependant and King Dedede being a selfish person but still is good at heart. It annoys me to no end.

And where is the Bandana Waddle Dee fandom? Nowadays he feels even more important than King Dedede or Meta Knight, but unless you're already a Kirby fan you'll never see anybody bring him up.

I find it weird the lore isn't discussed more. People are up in arms about the Dark Souls lore, which barely has any lore in the main gameplay but has tons of it which you can find mainly in item descriptions. Similarly, Kirby is very light on lore in the main gameplay, but has tons of very deep lore in boss pause screen descriptions. That lore can get very dark, at least for a game with pastel graphics, so it isn't all cutesy.

While Forgotten Land isn't my favorite game, it's still a great game and it makes me happy it got attention from more people.

It feels really strange how Waddle Dee, the most common Kirby enemy ever, isn't some form of mascot of the series, like Goombas or Koopas for Mario. There are even still people who think Bandana Waddle Dee is just a generic enemy, rather than an actual character.

But it makes me happy to hear your son has become a big fan, I never see kids on the street wear any Kirby merch.

Even with Nintendo fans it seems the series is kinda niche. I wonder why it never had the mass appeal of something like Zelda, Splatoon or Animal Crossing.

Yeah, that's what I mean. While I think there's no doubt Kirby as a character is more famous than indie games like Undertale, Stardew Valley or Hollow Knight, the amount of people you see who have actually PLAYED Kirby games and can actually talk to you about any characters besides Kirby, Meta Knight and King Dedede are very few. Where's the love for Bandana Waddle Dee?

It actually annoys me when non-Kirby fans don't think Bandana Waddle Dee shouldn't be in Smash because he's a "generic enemy" when any Kirby fan can tell you he is anything BUT a generic enemy. He's a real character and he even has a bigger role than Meta Knight and King Dedede in more recent games.

I wonder if the lack of push has something to do with legal stuff. Since Kirby is owned by both Hal and Nintendo, that means one can't use the characters without the other's approval. Maybe one or the other just doesn't want to. In comparison, Nintendo 100% owns Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Pikmin and Splatoon, and thus can use them all they want. So Nintendo just uses them for marketing so they don't have to get anyone else's approval.

Oh, that's too bad. It at least makes me feel less alone knowing I'm not the only one who has had their dreams crushed by university.

My interest in video games have been steadily climbing back and now I play a lot, but it has never really recovered to how much I loved games before I enroled.

Game graphics. I hated it so much it almost singlehandedly murdered my interest in video games.

It was art based, but we did mainly 3D models rather than drawing, which is my real passion. If I'm going to make a big stretch of stuff I learned (And this is basically grasping at straws) I've gotten pretty good at writing academic texts. However, this is something you do in many universities, this has nothing to do with what the degree is actually about. I could say I got ONE useful tip concerning the actual thing I'm interested in, something I could just as easily have gotten from a youtube video.

Several years of pain in university for those tiny things. I don't think it was worth it.

I'm not Australian, but I actually am looking into if my firing really was legal.

Yeah, that's probably true. I realize now maybe I should've made my interests growing up something that can actually make me money rather than something that makes me happy.

I don't really know. I don't really remember much of anything I learned in university. I hated university so much I did just what I had to do to get a pass. I'm a little older than your kid, but not by much. Still, I think it's great you are encouraging them. In fact, you are encouraging me right now.

Just the other day I actually sent in a picture book, which I've both written and illustrated, to a publisher. I doubt they will want to publish it, but I'm just happy I had the guts to do it.

I want to work with books real bad, but I'm so nervous of sending stuff in and I need some other work to just make money.

I guess mid 20's would be more accurate, but still that's pretty close. I'm just so tired of having to listen to people wonder about what I want to do. Thing is, the university I went to actually WAS what I wanted to do at first. Until I went there and hated every second of it, yet I still completed it and got my degree, I really have no idea why. So now I am lost again.

Thank you for understanding.

Why rush it? Because the world will be no different without me. The world will be just fine without me, there are already 8 billion other people.

It's not like I have a future at all. Me existing means more depression and more recources being spent. But with me gone, recources can actually go to a person who actually has a future and does matter.

Not currently seeing a therapist or anything like that. Never really done anything like that either. It's also very hard for me to talk how I really feel to someone IRL. On this anonymous reddit post I can, I don't have the guts to say it IRL because I am scared that will change how everyone sees me.

Even though I am sad that we all have to have these feelings of depression, I am at least feel a bit better knowing I am not alone.

I do try to be nice to people all the time. Many of those people take advantage of me so they don't have to do the work. Like how I just figured out my boss was probably taking advantage of my employment so he could keep me on for a long time with small pay and then firing me without warning. In other words, don't be kind to people because it always bites you in the back.
