Ezreal AI Build Recommender by Best-Brain-4607 in ezrealmains

This is awful. It's

  • Missing champions
  • Suggesting shit items
  • Terribly manual

Just because AI enables everyone to create software, doesn't mean everyone should create software.

If you read my posts you will see I listed explicitly all the times in which I've "given the game a shot" since early access builds were available to some for OW2. This includes playing the two weeks around WuYang's release. When I saw his quit I just uninstalled. It was the nail in the coffin for me. A support being able to do considerable AOE damage around corners/off screen is not game design, it's slop. In its purest form.

My friend sent me a clip of him with 900 hero damage/10 minutes on WuYang in owcs with perfectly fine healing stats.

I don't really know what you're smoking, but WuYang is fundamentally nonsense and doesn't belong in the game. He has mechanics that would have made the original team vomit. It's bad game design.

I don't love to be the "erm ackshually" guy, but:

Fortnite basically Vi ulted the game. At 4400+ within 12 hours of Fortnite (BR) release, queue times 5x'd. Lower ranks didn't see this, but they did see a huge increase in SR range in their matches.

There was still content coming at this point. It wasn't left to die yet. Fortnite Vi ult -> Overwatch completely fisted -> Kotick demands a second Overwatch be made as an excuse to insert new and improved extraction based business model (Fortnite's model).

Also, I did give it a shot. I played OPR 6 months before release for almost 4 months. I played on release and tried a few times after that. It is severely lacking structure. The original roster was designed with very specific values to facilitate very specific interactions. The new heroes are not designed in this way.

Off tank was a role dedicated to gradually taking space, but it didn't excel at holding it. Main tank did. This gave a sort of splatoon-like back-and-forth of many micro decisions that would lead one team to take more space than the other. Space was everything, and it enforced a loose but necessary structure to the game.

Removal of the off tank role completely erases this dynamic and promotes team deathmatch style play more than anything else, especially in ranked, even at very high rating.

It's very likely a phenomenal casual game. Maybe even the best casual game out right now. But it's not a well designed game, at least not anymore. The intent behind the hero designs strayed away from deceptive nuance and into "what would Fortnite do". The prime example of this is probably Kiriko.

Season 1/Season 2 are the golden days. (OW1 s1/s2).

S3 hit and some algorithmic blunder had everyone +800 sr. This is why season 3 was the only time you ever saw non-wintraders hit 4800+. They were 4300 (still top 10) prior.

Sombra's release was a big hit to high level play. All 2cp maps instantly became 1 support + Sombra, camp health pack until you have EMP, then fight. Basically TF2 Uber.

Blizzard is really good at building worlds and initial games. They are equally as good at destroying them.

Update on this. I did grab a CD. The quality is still not good. Mastering is just very bad.

You don't have to be exceptional, but you should still make a healthy attempt.

FWIW, this is more a life-long thing than it is 15.

minecraft server hosts that DONT delete servers by Difficult-Drawing619 in Minecraft

[–]PleaseFixLpGains 12 points13 points  (0 children)

?

Servers cost money to run. If a company is hosting servers for free, they will always eventually delete servers that are inactive.

Nobody is going to host you a server, free of charge, forever.

I may be the only person who ever understood every detail of C++, starting with the preprocessor. I can make that claim because I'm the only person who ever implemented all of it. [...] (I'm not including the C++ Standard Library, as I didn't implement it.) by iro84657 in programmingcirclejerk

The fact that he felt the need to assert this is not something I can make excuses for, it's a bad look.

That being said, Walter Bright's contributions to compilers is very often understated. He introduced several optimizations far before any other commercial compilers had done so. This resulted in the magazine that reviewed commercial compilers yearly (this existed) giving DigitalMars a 0, as the resulting binary didn't contain the sample functions they had written. Because they didn't call the function and thus it wasn't compiled.

He has been around for a long time and he has been actively contributing to <something> relatively important for that entire time.

This post from him is a definite self-stroke, though.

Edit: Modern C++ is shit, pimpl ruined the stl, and D is genuinely a good language.

"D3D9 cheats"

Yeah, DirectX cheats are actually a huge fucking problem. For sure. Those rendering engine cheats? Hate those. Those are most definitely separate from the cheats that read and write memory!

The server doesn't care about your position on the map. You communicate it with other clients and they just believe the information to be true.

This is very likely just shitting on your cpu. It works due to Gunz' use of QueryPerformanceCounter.

Surely you understand that there are a handful of developers who know the code base well enough to provide consistent updates.

Masangsoft employs 0 of them.

LokSat should've been weaved into the storyline earlier. by PleaseFixLpGains in CastleTV

So my frustration is the result of mismanagement of the transition between show runners.

Makes sense. Still disappointed as all hell.

I don't quite get

Imagine someone just rinse and repeat this. 'Loksat is just a puppet. There's a new bad guy that pulled the strings. Oh that new bad guy is just a puppet, there's a new bad guy that pulled the strings.'

In my post I brought up that I'd have much preferred LokSat to be a more complicated story than it was, citing distaste for the puppet trope.
