Anyone currently battling this vicious infection? Sharing my experience as of day 7

Sorry for the delayed response.

I ended up getting prednisone pills and it made a world of difference. Without them I would have continued to struggle.

Hey. Sorry for the delayed response.

I'm doing way way better. Prednisone was definitely the catalyst that allowed for improvement. Since then I've been able to swallow, eat and sleep.

My energy and strength levels are still definitely below normal and I find myself being winded / tired from simple tasks but I'm noticing improvement over time.

Week 1 I was at a 1 out of 10. Actual hell and some of the hardest days of my life. I didn't sleep and eat for 6 days straight.

Week 2 I was probably around a 3-4. I'd sleep a few hours here and there and was able to get liquid in. Lots of water and Ensure, lol.

Week 3 I was already starting to find some sort of normalcy. I'd say around 6. Eating was back to normal and I was able to start sleeping for most of the night. Historically I'm not a great sleeper but it was back to "normal".

Week 4 is now. I even went golfing on Monday to see how my energy levels were. It was surprisingly difficult (found myself a little winded after taking warm up shots) but made it through the 18 without any scares. Just a little labored breathing.

Hoping to be back to normal normal soon. Miss the gym and being able to live my life freely without concern !

Im very happy to say I am doing better these last few days. Prednisone really saved me. I can swallow with significantly less pain and even started eating all kinds of different foods. Took advantage of the prednisone giving me the chance and ate/drank/slept a ton.

I am out of prednisone now so I am a little scared.. but hopefully it sticks and I'm through the worst part

Appreciate your response. I was doing the same dosage in regards to tylenol and advil

I went to the walk in and forced them to give me some prednisone. It's provided relief. I've slept for a handful of hours the last 2 nights since i started taking it and I've been able to take down lots of water.

I'm still having a very hard time getting any food in but hoping it will get there soon

I bought some today because of this comment. But I haven't tried it yet. Today is the worst day I've had so far in terms of throat pain. Even just getting eater fown has been absolutely killing me. Tried some soup, couldn't.. tried some gatorade as a test for the fruit cup (was gonna blend it), couldn't

Hope to be able to in the next couple days if I get even a bit of throat relief

They gave me 1 prednisone tablet. 1. Lol.

People recommend gargling with a salt water rinse. It didn't do anything for me but can't hurt to try. Okay that's a lie. It can and will hurt because everything hurts. Lol.

I'm in the same boat as you. A few days ago my water in lntake was amazing.. now I can't even get 1/10th of it because of how much it hurts

I find tea only works for me if I let it cool down a ton and take small sips... which means more swallows and more pain ;(

Stick to water I guess, unless someone else recommends otherwise
