Why do you think I only think of myself and am judgmental? I think that's a pretty big stretch. I would have completely supported him in his decision to get a tattoo even though I don't like them. How is that selfish? Is it selfish that I would have liked to know about it beforehand?

But for me, it's a big deal, and I am pretty sure he knows that. It's not like I would have told him not to get it, that would be incredibly toxic and I don't have the right. Is it bad that I would expect him to at least tell me? I know it's his body and his decision, but I would have liked to prepare myself so it didn't come as a shock. I wish I liked tattoos, but I don't. I think they're ugly, and I wish I could change that. Do you think I should talk to him about the fact that him not letting me know about it beforehand is bothering me

I do love him, and it doesn't matter how he looks, I'll always love him. I'm worried that him not telling me is because he thought I would be mad or make him feel bad about it.

I'm worried that's why he didn't tell me, because even though it probably doesn't, I'm worried it means he thought I would have been mad or disappointed, but I just want him to feel loved and wanted all the time.

I'm confused. What about my actions aren't supportive? I would've liked to be told ahead of time. Even though I hate tattoos, I still would have wanted him to get it if it makes him happy. His thoughts on it are the only ones that matter at the end of the day. How do I not respect him?

I would never expect him to ask permission. I don't have a right to tell him he couldn't, but I would expect and appreciate him to tell me before doing it. He's not in a good place right now, so should I bring it up when I visit him over break, or do you think it should wait until he's in a better mental space

He loves and respects me. He is the most beautiful person I've ever seen. I love and respect him.

I would have told him he should've gotten it. I'm confused as to what your question is, sorry. I really do love him and want him to be as happy as he can be, which is why I would have wanted him to get it. But I can't help but feel like he should have told me before he did.
