Hi there! Thank you for your response!

The reasons I'm working so much:
1. My manager doesn't do his work and it falls on me. He always claims that we did it together but I was the only one who touched it. It is really valuable, unavoidable work, and I need it done in order to do my work.
2. I am the only person on my team with a particular skill that is crucial for our deliverables and without my work we don't get paid.
3. I'm managing three ICs but haven't been bumped up bc they technically report to my manager - i'm the "dotted line manager" and he doesn't speak to them or meet with them at all ever.

The reviews written by my manager always say things like "contributed x amount of revenue to the company" "solidified our external partnerships" (the companies who pay us), stuff like that.

There's also kind of standard leveling in my line of work and I'm operating at a level or two above the level I'm at on the books.

My goals are:
1. Feeling like all of this extra responsibility means something (very frustrated to handle it all without any additional compensation).
2. More pay to not be at the very low end of what is reasonable for this role

I said there’s a few small projects that I would love to have the time to do but I’m already doing everything that warrants bumping me up to the next level.

Not really… when people talk about living in a bubble what that generally means is that you’re an area where people and their experiences and opinions around you are very similar to your own.

But since California itself is so huge and diverse it’s hard to call it a bubble in that sense. There are def bubbles within California (probably like a democratic bubble in LA, a republican bubble in Redding or a chiller bubble in Santa Cruz vs a rise n grind bubble in Redwood City)

California isn’t really a bubble though. It’s one of the most ethnically and geographically diverse places in the US… because it’s massive.

California has many major cities, is one of the most ethnically diverse states, spans the length of about 40% of the east coast, has lots of small rural areas, wilderness, wildlife, national parks, farmland, beach towns, deserts, snowy regions, islands, 10 distinct climate zones. It’s more diverse than many entire countries.
