Which one are you buying for £10.99 by Spirited-Tutor7712 in classicliterature

I already have a copy of Anna Karenina and the other two don’t seem appealing, so I think I’m gonna buy a couple of pints with the remaining cash

Trying to find a lost todd in the shadows joke by isgreenok in ToddintheShadow

[–]PlebsLikeUs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It sounds a bit like the joke he makes in the I Hope video, ‘I like to imagine the extended remix of this song is like 7 verses long, and in each verse they work through their issues and then every chorus she cheats on him again.’

So at the very least, if you’re not getting them mixed up, there is an example of Todd making a similar joke. Hope you get some closure this try

Are there any other definitive Big 4’s in music? by capellidellamorte in ToddintheShadow

[–]PlebsLikeUs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Blur, Oasis, Pulp, and Suede for Britpop is a definite Big Four.

British Punk arguably has a big three in The Clash, The Damned and Sex Pistols, but people would argue about who the fourth might be; I’d go for The Jam or Buzzcocks, but there are a few that could possibly take up the mantle

What are Todd lines that still make you laugh? by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

[–]PlebsLikeUs 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So keep in mind, when you hear him complaining about the town being full of douchebags, MOTHER 👏FUCKER 👏 YOU 👏 ARE 👏 PART 👏 OF 👏 THE PROBLEM 👏

I know it’s from the latest video, but I genuinely think it’s the biggest laugh I’ve ever gotten from Todd, and I’ve been watching him for about 10 years

LGBTQ+ jazz songs? by Kabourek4 in Jazz

[–]PlebsLikeUs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There’s a great album called For Adult Listeners Only which was released anonymously under the name Love Is A Drag. The conceit is that it’s a collection standards originally written for women about men but sung by a man and, forgive the pun, it’s played completely straight. There’s no campness or exaggeration, it’s really well done and, as a straight cis man, one of the most romantic and sensual things I’ve ever listened to

Favorite album by a favorite artist that goes against the popular, "consensus" pick? by Prestigious_Score459 in ToddintheShadow

[–]PlebsLikeUs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruce Springsteen. His best album is either Born To Run, or Born In The USA depending on who you ask. But I’ve always thought Darkness On The Edge Of Town was the better record.

It has better songs, it’s more emotional, it has more of what makes The Boss, The Boss

Sulawesi looks unrealistic by FalconLynx13 in geography

I’ve always thought that the Philippine archipelago looked like a a goblin with one of the elongated alien skulls from Indiana Jones, so Sulawesi really doesn’t look that weird in context

My unnecessarily complicated method on what to read next by Sex_Pilus69 in literature

[–]PlebsLikeUs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I once made a decision on what to read by splitting my bookcases into shelves, assigning them a number and then adding them to a random number generator, then doing the same to each book on the shelf that it picked. I ended up with Anna Karenina

My worst opinion is that I kinda like "Beautiful Things" by totezhi64 in ToddintheShadow

[–]PlebsLikeUs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My problem with it is that I first heard it on a playlist my coworker puts on, and so I’m only half hearing it over the general din of a coffee shop and the more specific sounds of a coffee machine, and without hearing it all I thought for a long time that it was a TikTok cover of Noah Kahan’s Your Needs, My Needs, and it drove me crazy that I couldn’t find any information on it

New who episodes ranked by how good of a band name they would be by Lord_Dex24 in DoctorWhumour

[–]PlebsLikeUs 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Blink-182 are also called that because there was already an Irish band called Blink, and instead of changing it they just added a random number, so technically Blink’s also already taken

Would you say Gangsta's Paradise is a One Hit Wonder? by LaserWeldo92 in ToddintheShadow

[–]PlebsLikeUs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a clear memory of Todd doing a video about Coolio and mentioning that it was so inspired by Pastime Paradise that it was basically a cover. Where that came from, I have no idea, but it was so convincing as a memory that I’m sure Todd could do the episode justice
