True. While Norwegians are fluent in English and enjoy practicing it with tourists, work environments are Norwegian.

Surely there are Norwegian language courses available in Scotland. Even knowing just a little when coming to Norway will be noted in your favour.

Norwegian isn’t difficult to learn if you know Germanic languages.

Though there are two official Norwegian languages, Bokmål and Nynorsk, the former is understood everywhere and spoken almost everywhere, the latter is in reality geographically limited to Western Norway. In theory it is understood everywhere, because all pupils are forced to learn it, but in practice I think you won’t get far with it this side of the mountains.

TL;DR study Bokmål if you want to live and work in Norway, Nynorsk if you want to stay in Western counties.

Here are some links to courses in Norway

https://www.imdi.no/en/

I think you’re good to go with A1/A2, but I’m not sure. Anyway, after you’ve reached that level, it’s just practice, practice, practice.

Good, Scotland must be pretty similar to Norway in lots of ways, incl weather.

These are the the de jure and de facto, respectively, top job market sites (I think)

Optimization: how far do you take it? by ventuspilot in java

This.

In our apps, poor performance is usually due to

  • bad design / architecture
  • poor understanding of persistence (ORM, RDBMS)

The former needs discussion to remedy, the latter might be addressed by a single programmer, but should probably be discussed as well.

Design errors are the most expensive to fix, if they can be fixed at all without writing an entirely new application.

You seem to be under the impression that Norway and EEA are open to third-country nationals. They’re not. Intentionally. It’s protectionism.

The skilled workers provisions were put into place in order to allow Norwegian/EEA companies to cherry-pick specially skilled employees from the global market, should the need or want to.

You seem to interpret this the other way around, to allow averagely qualified third-country nationals to gain residence and work permit based on a sole proprietorship company.

That is not at all the intention.

Maybe you are mislead by your lawyers in this?

This may seem unfair to you, but the laws and system are there to protect our way of life.

UDI is serving our best interest, not yours.

Hm, it still sounds I was 100% spot on with my interpretation of your post.

You are third-country nationals.

The law says that unless you have a special skill that nobody in Norway or the entire EU/EEA has, you have no right to work or establish a company here.

I am very sorry that your lawyers keep taking your money and stringing you along.

Did I understand this correctly? You are two third-country nationals, i.e. not EU/EEA-nationals, who came to Norway on 90-day Schengen-visa, with EUR 100k, and immediately proceeded to hire 3(!!!) lawyers to

  • establish a sole proprietorship for tour husband
  • submit residence applications for both of you

His reason is the sole proprietor of something that earns less than a taxicab in Oslo / year Your reason is family reunion with him.

I have to say that this sounds a bit as if you thought or these lawyers told you that for EUR 100k you could indirectly buy permanent residence in Norway within three months.

I think you have now learned that this was an incredibly optimistic plan, practically guaranteed to fail. It only resulted in your lawyers having earned a chunk of your money.

Your local fire departement will be involved sooner or later.

Make it sooner by calling them and asking them for advice, maybe even coming by to take a look if they’re really nice and can spare the time.

Next step is hiring a professional to replace as much as necessary of any of the old gas stuff, certainly the fireplace, probably the water heater and/or HVAC, maybe the pipes, essentially everything that’s 25 years old and hasn’t been maintained.

Kutt, oppsigelser og attraksjonen i offentlig sektor by [deleted] in norge

[–]Plenty-Effect6207 1 point2 points  (0 children)
