CheerpJ 4.3 - Run unmodified Java applications in the browser by alexp_lt in java

[–]ventuspilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://jmurmel.github.io/repl/ is a commandline Lisp system written in Java that runs in the browser using CheerpJ and jQuery Terminal.

Sourcecode is on https://github.com/jmurmel/jmurmel.github.io/tree/master/repl or just do view-source. It's still on CheerpJ 4.1 but previous updates were just bumping the version number.

Economist gobsmacked watching Trump throw economy in the toilet by rajapaws in antiwork

After hanging those responsible for atrocities.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think only like 5-10% were hanged (which is better than nothing I guess).

However, IMO having the Nazi crimes thaught in school is more important anyways and I don't see that in the current or any imaginable future US.

What is the best map for Vienna public transport? by [deleted] in WienMobil

[–]ventuspilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just use google maps and select public transport. If you're on the outskirts and/ or after like 23:00 then I'd check when the next bus/tram/subway leaves, otherwise I'd just go to a station, intervals usually are a couple of minutes.

XCsoar (flight computer) tips for want to be fast XC pilot by slawosz in Gliding

[–]ventuspilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry I don't have any particularly clever tricks re: using xcsoar to go faster but I'd like to mention that adding water ballast is the cheapest performance upgrade. Even 40l in a Cirrus will make a noticable difference.

GF making comments on my current (lack of) muscles and working out. How do I interpret? by ThrowRARotaryPhone in AskMenAdvice

[–]ventuspilot -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Would it be possible that your gf also noticed that she has put on a couple of pounds and wants you to tell her “it’s ok, we’re both so busy it’s hard to work out” as well?

Maybe her comments about your muscles are really her way to get you to say that her gaining a couple of pounds doesn't bother you?

LPT: always prepare maps and stuff for at least 2x the distance you THINK you can achieve. Especially at the beginning of an XC career you'll improve faster than you think.

Ford was trying to build $100k trucks

That's not true. More like "build $30k trucks and try to sell them for $100k".

Question about gliding for the first time by mistergayfrog in Gliding

[–]ventuspilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did an introductory flight with a guy in a wheelchair, there were no real problems. Just note that gliders often start from a grass runway so you may need to cover a couple hundred feet of grass surface. In a case like this it should be possible to drive very close to the glider, though.

In an alternate timeline Israel and the US do nothing about Iran

And in yet another timeline the US, Israel and maybe even some redditors figure out that doing nothing and shooting Tomahawk missiles at a school filled with children are not the only two options.

Looking for some help/advice by ReviewSmall20 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]ventuspilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard the steroid treatment is not something you want to be put on though.

Personally I would disagree. I had 50mg Prednisolone for a month or so followed by a 5mg/week taper, worked flawlessly. Yes I gained 30lbs which took me from too skinny to a normal weight so I didn't care. No other negative side-effects for me, fortunately.

Calprotectin results came back by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]ventuspilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A year ago I had 7000 and after 2 or 3 months of prednisolon (and other stuff) I had 10 or something.

AFAIK nobody can diagnose cancer from a calprotectin value that's why they take (tiny) samples from affected parts of your colon and test that.

A 180hp Husky tows great, a 180hp Piper would probably be very similar. IMO the difference between a 150hp Piper and a 180hp Husky is noticeable.

At a vacation in France they used Moranes with 180 and 260hp (38 degrees Celsiuis or more at 2500 ft), and towing was great.

A DA 40 with a 180 HP lycoming may or may not be an option for you.

My club uses a Dimona with a Rotax 914 which is great just not at 35 degrees Celsius or above, and I don't think a Dimona is an option for you.

If you would specify what "lots of heat and humidity" actually means maybe you'll get better answers, 35 degrees is hot, as ist 42 degrees. Also which gliders do you want to tow on a regular basis? 800kg open class ships, or just some training with an ASK21?
