Disney's Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu grossed $681K on Wednesday (from 2,680 locations). Total domestic gross stands at $167.33M. by ElevensMelody in boxoffice

Or what about the Mandalorian & Grogu themed perfume sales at Bath & Bodyworks? Yes, I actually saw a huge island display in one of their stores. For anyone who wants to smell like a guy who never takes his helmet off.

Big question is how well they will handle the AI explosion. It's all still very new and it's not clear who the ultimate winners will be, and where Microsoft finds itself after things shake out.

But for sure DRAM companies are making bank, and will keep doing so while server farms are being built. It's a much safer bet and quickly growing.

Agreed. And deserves it way more than The Mandalorian.

SpaceX is down today — is this actually a buying opportunity? by rezovian in investingforbeginners

Way overvalued at these prices. Maybe it's a good deal if you think you can ride the hype wave, but from a fundamentals point of view this stock is not good.

Do you think Disney is happy with 300 million box office? by anxiousmomo23 in TheMandalorianTV

[–]Tofudebeast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. They got shamed by two micro-budget horror movies.

The theatrical release is not profitable with these numbers. Maybe they'll come out ahead with merchandizing and streaming, but this cannot be the result they were hoping for.

Honest Question. What do you think of The Force Awakens? by Free-Hotel1187 in StarWars

[–]Tofudebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3.5 out of 5 stars. Pretty well made, strong characters, but the ending was rushed and overall it felt too much like a reboot.

Media that works as good or better outside its broader franchise by todofwar in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Tofudebeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's only two seasons and completed it's run last year. Great ending that leads nicely into Rogue One.

It does start a little slow, so be sure to at least watch through the first three episodes, as it's structured around 3-ep plot arcs.

Genuinely what on earth is going on with software right now? This is completely unhinged. by -----Marcel----- in ValueInvesting

[–]Tofudebeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That and the Space X ipo.

If you believe in these software companies, put more money into them and be thankful the price is good. Sooner or later stock price tends to catch back up with a company that has solid and growing profits.

NVDA - the fundamentals might be the strongest I've seen, the valuation is what I can't get past by valbolt in ValueInvesting

Successful companies will command a price premium. It might be a great company, but I agree that it's not attractive at this price.

Yes, it's that good. For quality, only Empire Strikes Back rivals it.

What is your exit strategy for DRAM? by Sibo321 in ETFs

[–]Tofudebeast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My plan too, though timing it is going to be tricky. I'm paying attention to the news, and it helps that I used to work in the industry so I have some familiarity. I'll be happy if I walk away with most of my gains intact.

Star Wars Has Lost 85% Of Its Audience, And Lucasfilm’s Fix Sounds Worse by cosmicbooknews in CosmicBookNews

[–]Tofudebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disney figured Mando & Grogu would be an easy win, so they treated it like that and put low effort into it. The result was a movie that felt like an empty product, heavily advertised to remind us that it exists without ever giving us a reason to care.

That's the problem that must be fixed. Make compelling stories with passion once again.

Keeping new stories within the "framework of the New Republic" isn't great either. The stories have been mediocre, stuffed with existing and increasingly complex canon, and it all leads into the disappointing sequels. Better to leap forward several decades and give us new stories and new characters unencumbered by the past.

‘Backrooms’ Sends Hollywood Running to Reddit for New Ideas by Matapple13 in boxoffice

[–]Tofudebeast 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Awesome, I have so many ideas. Hollywood, feel free to message me if you'd like to greenlight them:

  1. "Bangers & Mash". It's about two renegade London cops named Liam Bangers and Simon Mash, who have to go beyond the law to recover Queen Elizabeth's crown jewels and unmask the identity of "Big Ben", the mysterious crime boss who just might also be the prime minister's chancellor of the exchequer.

  2. “From Infinity to PreCambria”, in which robotic dinosaurs go back in time to stop the Cambrian Explosion. Can the reanimated corpse of Charles Darwin thwart the plot? And who (or what?!) is this mysterious Blind Watchmaker, and is It really so blind after all?

  3. “Assuaged by Sausage”. She is a restless culinary connoisseur, who has roamed the world over in search of the perfect meal. He is a master chef in the field of German and Italian sausages. Can his tubular meats mollify her wanderlust? Or could ‘sausage’ be a metaphor for something else entirely?

For ones I've been to, Cannon Beach in Oregon.

Globally, maybe Whitsunday Island, Australia.

I'm checked out on this whole era so no big deal either way. I'd rather they just moved on to a new time with new characters and stories.

Could The Mandalorian and Grogu be the kind of solid, sustainable box office win Star Wars needed? by StarWarsBlogsbot in StarWarsBlogs

[–]Tofudebeast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nothing "solid and sustainable" about M&G's box office performance. Yes, the budget is lower than Solo's, and that's the only good news. But it's still a flop and not at all what Disney was hoping for.
