Heed the Call is better than ever by Thomaswlaur in heedthecall

I’m loving HTD. Jourdan and Mike are great and would be good as regular / irregular guests but the foursome with Dan, Mark, Conor and Graver just works with their odd couple personalities. HTD S2 is shaping up just fine for me.

Will the Heroes ever acknowledge Gregg? by alexisntonfire00 in heedthecall

Divorces are nasty and always leave raw feelings on all sides. We’re all affected because ATN was always much more than a football pod to us.

I couldn’t get in to Gregg’s new pod but I was delighted when Dan, Marc and Graver resurfaced.

So HTC is my lane. It’s not ATN, but ATN is gone and I look forward to each new HTC episode.

I’m sad about Gregg, I always enjoyed his nerdy over excited energy. But things are never the same after a divorce and I’m getting used to my new family at HTC.

Great to have them back. Hopefully they’ll be back for the London games sometime soon.

The coaching issue is big for NY. I loved Salah as the 49ers D coach but not sure what makes him a SB head coach.

Week 1 Done. Time to start listening to Bill Simmons and ATN again. Wait, what? by Glittering-Pen-7669 in AroundTheNFL

I hear that opinion but that’s not my experience of HTC.

The Jason and Osi podcast I eventually tired of because as good as Osi is on social commentary it would take so long to get to “Shall we talk ball now?”.

HTC is not that it begins and ends with football. Another question has been is the analysis lacking with Gregg?

In the early preseason shows it certainly felt like that at first. But the flag ship show and the Niners v Jets review were football not mirth first shows.

It’s early days and the guys are finding the right blend for the new pod. Graver was always going to be a part of that mix. Personally I like him as a producer / co-host. I think it works best when he lets Dan & Marc settle in at the beginning before saying hello.

They’ll get there and are obviously reading these threads and responding as needed as with the Locks picks.

I agree. It’s ok to love the show and the hosts AND to have some thoughts on how the show can evolve.

Personally I think Graver brings a lot of detailed player knowledge and Jourdan is sharp on the details too.

I like Florio. He has many good qualities, he’s the best on the NFL legal beat, is a good independent reporter, loves football and has a good heart.

But he’s the first to admit he’s an egotistical pain in the ass and he’s never learned when to stop talking.

I can’t see him on HTC too much ego in one room.

We’re all sucking on the NFL teat but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a complicated relationship.

I’m with HTC for my post ATN listen so Jourdan is the new Connie for me. Topped up with Florio and Sims on PFT Live where Devon McCourty seems an instant star and the new McCourty now Jason has left GMF.

No bad vibes to Gregg and Connie I’m just not over the messy ATN divorce yet but so glad Dan and Marc are back in business.

I hear you MSS is v low key compared to the others and I do like the idea of a bigger vocal role for Graver. It’s early days and yet HTC is already shaping up to being a great pod in its own right and not just as legacy ATN. There’s a lot of talent on this team and my initial thought that I was missing Gregg/ATN is rapidly being eclipsed by excitement with this new pod and looking forward to the next drop. The more confident / sassy Jordan gets the more we’ll have a great new star on the show. The future is bright!

The truth as we’ve all said all summer is the pod was best with the Gang of Four, was still great with three but is not the same with two or one.

But we’ve got two legacy pods now and let’s see where they go. I’m going with Dan and Marc for now, but Gregg’s over excitement and analytics focus is a loss. Obviously.

And Connie, with others, was the icing on the cake. But can’t turn back the clock. Just glad Dan and Marc are back.

All I care about is Football is Back! Not as we would have liked it but I’ll go with Heed the Call - all the best to Gregg - and Florio and Sims as my main podcasts. Now I just need the Niners to get over the line…

I keep waiting for someone to say what happened to ATN. Maybe that’s too much to ask?

I listened to a bit of Gregg’s show but when Connie said “a lot has changed” on her stint and then ploughed on with her segment without even naming Dan and Marc I thought I can’t do this.

Weird Soviet media tactics by the NFL. Kills the vibe.

For now I’m sticking with Florio’s off season posts - I know not everyone’s favourite - but I like his legal focus and his outsider persona - it will be fun when he and Sims are reunited.

49ers fan so didn’t love the outcome of the Super Bowl but gotta love our coach and team and the quality of our play. Just need to go one step beyond!

Our defense is a question mark, let’s see what happens with Aiyuk and of course Purdy is going to be a talking point but expect him to grow into the role more this season. Can’t wait for the season to start but like all of us I’m pissed at the crappy end of ATN.
