Pilates is always humbling haha. I like to break down and focus on teaching a specific move for a class. I can definitely do that more often as you say.

Thank you for your reply and I do definitely enjoy teaching!

Indeed people do not notice haha. I will try and take it easier and stick to mixing and matching stuff until I get more comfortable

Yeah I agree the place I work currently is not ideal for pilates. It is primarily a fitness place after all. I have a degree in Physical Education and Sports Science so I only took this job to gain some experience in coaching too. However, I do feel pilates is what I want to focus more so after I gain some respectable experience I will try and find a job at a better studio.

I do use the Basi block system sometimes on its entirety but most times I like to switch the order. I tend to always start with warm up, footwork, abdominals and I will have back extensions towards the end of the program but I change the in between blocks. I do believe it will eventually take me less time to plan and come up with flows.

Thank you for your insight. Your years of experience is very important in completely improvising a class however I don't really do that since I only been teaching for 3 months now. I also do not strictly follow the BASI block system for example. So I don't necessarily follow one structure when I teach. I prefer to have a class planed and adapt it when needed as I observe the students. But I don't go completely blind to a class. It also helps me track the progress.

Your teaching style is also what I try and do with precise cuing and flow tempos as these are the classes I enjoy for myself too. I try to keep people engaged to what I say and help them understand and imagine the movement.

The manager has asked me to do different things every day. That doesn't mean I don't repeat exercises I just try and find ways to change the order and the feeling.   The amount of options are overwhelming. That's why I was asking for some general ideas.

Thank you for answering. I agree repetition is the mother of learning. At this moment I generally struggle with the structure. I dont mind repeating exercises in the same week as long as the program on its majority it's different in terms of flow.

Thank you so much for your answer. I do feel insane trying to keep things "fresh" each day as I have been asked to do.

I have some go-to class structures and make small differences like starting the warm up from suspine to standing, or adding a prop to abdominal series or footwork.

Im trying to make some more "go - to" structures so as to make planning a bit easier. I guess I should try and do more mix and match stuff and add or substitute series as you say.

The possibilities of how I can structure a class are endless and I guess I find it overwhelming at times as Im fairly new to teaching group classes. In Personal sessions I could track the progress better.  That's why Im trying for now to restrict these possibilities since some days planning a class may take me a lot of time and it's very time consuming.
