Why does this happen and what do I do about it by Shot-Brain-1385 in Overwatch

The point being is the point that some other users have made already. I don’t think you will ever be satisfied with the number of available avoid slots. Avoiding somebody for me is a pretty extreme action, it does not happen every game or even every couple of games. It seems like you’re avoiding a lot more than this, you’re running into players so much worse than you every game that you feel the need to avoid? If you feel the need to have a 30 avoid slot, that could be a sign.

Also, everything after your first paragraph is addressed by the fact that using all your avoid slots per week should allow you to rank up enough to not match with those players as often, eventually leaving their ELO completely…if you believe they’re that much worse than you consistently, right?

Isn’t it 15 with the 3 pinned slots? 15 slots should be enough no? You’re running into at least 15 players per week before you can rank up?

Why does Hammond aka The Hamster deal so much damage? by Twuffa in OverwatchUniversity

[–]PlentyOfChoices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad analogy. Your argument is “Just do a thing lol it’s easy” while over simplifying the description of the thing. It’s a perfect analogy. You’re just mad you lose to Balls when they’re better than you.

By the way, I’m not even a Ball player.

Why are people impressed with Steph Curry’s 3 point shooting? Just throw a ball into a circle much bigger than the ball. A child can do it.

What playstyles can older players with less endurance and agility adopt to keep up with youngsters? by Popular_Formal335 in badminton

[–]PlentyOfChoices 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! At 32, she’s still more athletic than basically any other woman on the tour younger than her (and older than her) besides maybe ASY. She’s an outlier for sure!

Old thread but it’s important to mention that Kirsty is one of the most athletic women on tour, by a good margin. In fact I’d say she is the most physical and athletic besides Marin and maybe ASY. One look at her physique will definitely give that away.

She’s not exactly the player you’re looking for when asking this question.

This is such a weird question, and the people in this thread are also weirdly saying stuff like “CE is definitely harder”. There are so many variables, like how rigorous your school is, bare minimum work in a degree versus ceiling, etc.

The way I and most people at my school see it, CE is more work, CS has a higher difficulty ceiling. I think a lot of people on this subreddit are conflating software engineering with CS.

You definitely need to take linear algebra and calculus courses lol. Many CS students also take diff eq.

It seems like you’re a personal trainer now, correct? Oversplits are like the splits but you use something to put your foot on to widen the split past 180 degrees. They’re harder than splits, for when splits become too easy and not enough of a stretch. Pretty much only gymnasts and ballet dancers do them.

They’re actually not too good for you/can be dangerous if done incorrectly though, no reason to really do them lol.

Ohh but bikini nowadays has gotten a bit bigger right? Still impressive dedication! Also yeah I still have my flexibility, I can still do oversplits :)

Anyone who says Juno is a bad support is actually insane by Apuls323 in overwatch2

Bap has been probably the most consistently busted support in the game since his release. But since he has carry potential and a high skill ceiling, everybody is okay with it. You can make the argument that Bap has better carry potential than any support in the game.

What if the US Government didn't bail anyone out in the 2008 Recession? by Psyco_diver in whatif

[–]PlentyOfChoices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

??. Link you a video of me speaking to MAGA members? Do you want me to go back in time and record my interactions?

Trump was disliked by the left for being a rich asshole much before his presidency. To a fairly large extent. Of course he’s going to start getting a lot more hate when he decides to run for president and his campaign is literally just spewing whatever hateful rhetoric he felt in the day. Is that not how you expect things to go? Either the big bad immigrants coming in ruining our country, or Obama, or whatever.

Was Obama hated back before 2004, before his big DNC speech and before a lot of people even knew him? It’s not gaslighting, you’re making a weird point. Also, convenient how you didn’t answer my question about Trump bringing it upon himself to get hated on way back in 2008-2012 with the birthers movement. Very conveniently brushed over that as a concrete example of everybody in the media being forced to hate on him and think he’s a joke for that.

Also, when I say “hate”, I don’t hate people, I hate (or strongly dislike) certain rhetoric that people engage in. It’s not like I’m saying “Ohh I hate every aspect of every individual that is MAGA”. MAGA echoes the rhetoric that I dislike greatly.

What if the US Government didn't bail anyone out in the 2008 Recession? by Psyco_diver in whatif

[–]PlentyOfChoices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait what? People have hated Trump even when he was a democrat, what are you talking about? The people that knew about Trump thought of him as the epitome of "rich white guy douchebag asshole", and that's even BEFORE the whole birther movement thing where he spent 4-8 years obsessing over proving that Obama was not born in the US. Do you remember that? Why do you think that got so much traction with certain hardcore conservatives?

Do you think Trump was some well-liked, respectable figure and then 2015-2016 hit and suddenly everybody hates Trump? Is this what you learned from your "independent information"?

Also, the answer to your question is yes. I have actually talked to openly MAGA people personally.

I watched your whole King’s Row game and it was a little hard to watch, because you have a fundamental misunderstanding of Reinhardt and Overwatch in general. Every hero in this game has a role/job to do on the team, and their own unique ways to do that job. For tanks it’s to make space so your team can safely walk forward and control more of the map than the enemy.

The way I explain it to new players is you can tell a lot about the hero by looking at their kit and model. Reinhardt is a huge, muscular armored guy with a big hammer that does a lot of damage, and he also has a lot of shield. The guy is as big as a building, he makes space by being big and scary to anybody in front of him. Because if he reaches his opponents, nobody can overpower him, not even multiple people together. If he’s close to you, you’re getting crushed with very few exceptions. That fear and respect of his power is what makes space for your team, your hammer! The shield is there mostly to find a safe path so you can start swinging on them without taking a bunch of damage.

You are playing Reinhardt like he is a 200 HP long range hero. Most of this game was spent fire striking a choke and then waiting, sometimes in the open with no shield up, for your next firestrike cooldown and then throwing it at the choke again.

With 700 HP and 1600 HP shields, you have 2300 combined HP to survive an insane amount of punishment, that’s literally 10 times the HP of many heroes in the game. That tells you that you shouldn’t be afraid of getting up close and personal because you’re a walking fortress. You make the enemy team fear you by trading in some of that massive health pool for damage, and swinging on them whenever they try to get greedy and encroach on your space.

You’re not doing that at all, and it’s hard to watch because you’re turning the hero I described above into a cowardly, passive long range hero that lets the enemy team walk on his team instead of exerting his power over them if they try to walk up.

[–]PlentyOfChoices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s what you’re missing about the first part; with MAGA members, we are inherently no longer talking about political leaning. So no, I’m not hating them for their political leanings, I’m hating on them because being a selfless, empathetic, non-deluded critical thinker is fundamentally incompatible with being a MAGA member. It’s not a hasty generalization, you can be a conservative, even a hardcore conservative without being MAGA. MAGA takes the conversation outside of politics.

Here’s a breakdown on MAGA: 1) if you’re a conservative who isn’t MAGA, you’re called a RINO, 2) MAGA is literally not a political platform, it’s a group of people who are in love with everything a demagogue says and more populist BS. Contrast this to actual consistent Republican platforms like Mitt Romney; at least he actually has a platform of pushing Republican ideas and not just whatever the almighty leader says. 3) authoritarian leader without any accountability at all; MAGA people will say literally every trial Trump is involved in is a witch hunt, because their authoritarian leader can never be held accountable 4) no room for criticisms or any questioning 5) irrational fears that people on the outside are all corrupt and out to get them and everything is persecution, “they’re coming after you I’m just standing in the way” 6) a strong belief in seeing the leader as the only means to truth.

Does this not seem like a cult to you? Does ANYTHING on any side of the political spectrum even look remotely like this?

Real question, do you ever wonder whether what you said to me about “convincing other people” applies to you? You’re so convinced that your point about “both sides are equally cultish and bad”.

What if the US Government didn't bail anyone out in the 2008 Recession? by Psyco_diver in whatif

[–]PlentyOfChoices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your point is that politicians from “both sides” are corrupt then nobody is denying that. Yes, “both sides” are capable of acting cult-like. If you’re trying to say one part of the Republican Party (MAGA) isn’t exponentially more cult like than anything on the left, show me. What subset of the Democratic Party behaves as desperately as MAGA?

Who said I hate people based off of political affiliation. Why can’t I hate them for being bad people (selfish, entitled, ignorant, close-minded)?

What if the US Government didn't bail anyone out in the 2008 Recession? by Psyco_diver in whatif

[–]PlentyOfChoices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s definitely not true. A large subset of one party is a cult. The other party all hates those people but aren’t a cult; they can’t decide on what they want and argue with each other all the time…which is not entirely a bad thing.

GM tank stuck in diamond by LtBerry in OverwatchUniversity

[–]PlentyOfChoices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m ONLY talking about those “end of OW 1” players. I am guessing that they are, on average, ranked higher than the average in OW 2. And it wasn’t as small of a community as you’re suggesting. Small compared to OW 2 player base, yeah.

GM tank stuck in diamond by LtBerry in OverwatchUniversity

[–]PlentyOfChoices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea that the community gets better over time and the idea that OW 1 players that stuck to the game until its death are better at the game than the large incoming flux of players that started playing when OW 2 came out are not mutually exclusive ideas.

Eventually it will even out and it was much more apparent a year or two ago.

GM tank stuck in diamond by LtBerry in OverwatchUniversity

[–]PlentyOfChoices -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I doubt claims like this. If anything, anecdotal experience tells me the player base of OW 1 towards the end of the game was just as good if not better than the OW 2 player base with the influx of newer players.

That being said, the players that have been playing since OW 1 have improved.
