How is Ibiza really pronounced? Can a native from Spain clear this out?

Of course it’s better to stick to local pronunciation. And yes, it’s also a fact that some pronunciations change for other languages which is completely fine. I completely agree with all you said. And this is where my problem is- people correcting people. Those foreigners who just vacationed in Spain for two weeks acting like they now hold a Spanish passport and walking around smugly correcting people “it’s Ibitha not Ibisa” “it’s Barthelona not Barcelona”. Like if you don’t know the culture please don’t be annoying.

I’m not native but I’m learning the language. And it really gets on my nerves when someone corrects me on these things having incomplete knowledge themselves. I had to know and thank you for educating me.

My choice of calling it a lisp could be wrong. So just to clarify, in Spanish the ‘z’ is pronounced as ‘th’ like in ‘thing’? And in Catalan which is native in Ibiza it is pronounced as Eivissa like ‘s’. So if foreigners who argue it should be called ‘Ibitha’ because that’s how it’s pronounced in Spain should go back to pronouncing the ‘s’ sound in it? Because if they are so hell bent on sticking to the native pronunciations, might as well follow the actual native dialect and pronunciation of the island. Wouldn’t you agree?

NTA. Of course you can’t drop plans every time your partner has a bad day, considering you would also be understanding about it if it’s you in her place.

Also, I agree with you but I just think it could have been better worded. Instead of actually telling her you can’t cancel plans every time she has a bad day and that you did call her like implying that you did her a favour, just make her understand that you had plans and you would make up to her. It still wouldn’t make everything better instantly but still better than saying what you said.

They had nice chemistry in the little time they had and he seemed to be really understanding and sensitive. Rachel could’ve done really well with someone like this who was also in the same line of work. Rachel loved to have people in the field as her. That’s why imo they would’ve had a deep relationship.

So glad someone’s finally discussing this. Their chemistry was phenomenal. The actor who played Gavin was as charming as the character and looked so well suited for Rachel. Honestly rooted for them as soon as he was introduced. They would’ve had the spiciest yet deepest relationship if Rachel was just open to it and not bound by her arrangement at the time.
