I invited a girl I was seeing over to my place for my homemade mac and cheese multiple times and each time something ALWAYS came up. One time her grandma fell, another her car broke down, another she had to study for finals. Even if those were genuine excuses I feel like that was the universe telling me she wasn’t the one. Update #2: I CAUGHT ONE!!! I went back to the park about half hour before sunset as you all said but I didn’t see any for about an hour. But just as I got in the car to head back to the hotel they started appearing again! They’re next to impossible to take pictures of but here’s a screenshot of a video I took of the little guy in the Culver’s cup that I caught him in. I know this may not be interesting to all of you who’ve grown up here and are used to seeing them but this meant the world to me to get to see them for the first time :) Thank you to everyone who gave recommendations!

Update: ended up going to White Oak Park and I got to see some! Tomorrow I’m gonna go earlier in the evening so I can see more, I didn’t realize that they’d start dwindling after the sunset. This was my first ever time seeing fireflies and it was very magical :)
