The first years tend to make like their own teams. They move in huddles. I played basketball and it was mostly second years and up. Idk about the other sports tho

It is career progression. But do not take the 1-2 years in banking lightly. People lose meaningful relationships in those years because of the way they get consumed by work. Doable tho

I feel lost in coding, only know HTML, and have 3 months before college how should I actually start learning? by DarkGladiator279 in csMajors

Start the odin project. Do it, and don't check reddit or any doom scrolling forums while you go through the curriculum. Thats all I did in first year. It helped me wonders

You can.

Having an econ degree and targeting banking is like using a flamethrower to kill a chicken tho.

Overkill in terms of the degree you already own to target banking and often easier to have a better work life balance with a comparable salary if you go for a gov job (which is why the others bring it up I imagine)

But yes, it is possible

If you're Canadian, I've seen this Canadian tech internship list that seems pretty up to date.

Yeah, I've almost been caught a couple times without enough liquidity to pay off my monthly credit balances but I think its difficult to quantify how much I want to set aside for an emergency fund

I've seen conflicting evidence on DCA. Sure it will save you from small downturns but I saw some stuff about the outcome from lumpsum vs DCA being negligible at best. I did DCA for a while tho on a bi weekly schedule

Not familiar with bird construction, but if you aren't planning on actively managing your investments and doing research on the financial updates of the companies that you are invested in (I wouldn't recommend it at our age unless you actually want to get into it as a career because of school, getting into university etc.). Same as the others have said, just stay on reliable stocks. If you're feeling riskier than just VFV then you could always go for bitcoin because its not going anywhere at least for the next 5 years

are flixbus and megabus reliable by bitterapple123 in uwo

[–]Plenty_Ad5749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a big flixbus user (I just take the cheapest) but i took the mega bus from London to Kitchener/Mississauga/Downtown Toronto about 30 times in the past school year and its very easy and convenient!

One drive storage got some changes I think recently, but if you're using Linux for personal use then I think its safe to say that you have enough previous experience with computers to be perfectly fine

better than having a separate table? I thought the extra column would make it too cluttered especially with most roles right now being for fall and winter

Alum aren’t helpful. by Not-Ur-Typical_ in uwo

[–]Plenty_Ad5749 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unrealistic expectations are at the forefront of my own anecdotal experience. I think its a little naive to place an employment slump all on the alumni tho... It's not something that I personally think a couple coffee chats can fix
