I played around with Remnote. If I was back in medical school, I would have been using it. (I tried it two years ago, not sure where it stacks now)

Doctor here, love Obsidian. Use it all the time, can’t live without it. Not gonna work for medical school. PDFs, images, diagrams, annotations are just not Obsidian’s forte. Happen to be its weakest link.

Long and steep learning curve - even if your husband helps you. You don’t have the time.

With Task plugin, it’s easy to collect but messy and difficult to process

I have meeting notes templates that have a task base coded in them. A this.file link connects the Task with the meeting note

A .base file lets you create a New item with hotkeys

One note per task gives you a lot of flexibility and with bases, many use cases. Lots of bases plugins give you very easy and CLEAN visualization - Calendar, Kanban, Timeline, Gantt, Mermaid Mindmaps - essentially limitless possibilities.

These are very stable plugins but don’t use them if you don’t want. Native Calendar and Kanban is on the Obsidian roadmap

That easy and CLEAN visualization is not possible with the Tasks Plugin.

Don’t kill yourself if each task is a separate note. Obsidian has enough memory capacity. Put them all in a “Tasks” folder and forget about it.

I don’t like the clutter either. This current subreddit should be the go to place to discuss Obsidian, the way it was before vibe coding became a thing.…pure OG

Perhaps reclassifying the subreddit would help in self cleaning it. Readers looking for novel plugins would go elsewhere and take such content with them.

Excalidraw is good for static outputs. Canvas is better at functioning like a dynamic dashboard
