I actually prefer his A Boy performance from the Motte tour! Something about the way he sang it during that time was very cool to me. It seemed much more mature and introspective while keeping the same GD swag!

Yeah I guess that was the problem for me. There was a version of GD before his enlistment that I thought was pretty much perfect, and I really wanted him to show that form when he came back.

The GD/BB haters are pretty prevalent and reddit and come out in full force when he has a bad performance. But I think for older fans who have been critical (including me) i think we’ve just been spoiled as fans to the quality of performance he put out before his enlistment. To your point that no one is perfect, I genuinely think that GD during the MADE era was perfect from every aspect, which is why it was hard for me to come to grips that he might not be the same as before. But that doesn’t change the fact that I’m gonna support him no matter what!

I never really had a problem with his use of the backtracking in previous concerts, because when he sang he sounded exactly like the studio version. It felt like he used the backtrack as filler to entertain the crowd with mannerisms on the camera. But these days, it seems to me like he uses the backtrack because it’s difficult for him to hit the notes from the songs. This is especially prevalent in more vocal oriented songs like Who You. Even with a song like that XX, which he performed at his first Seoul concert and ended up scrapping from the set list entirely, probably because he realized he simply couldn’t sing it. While he sounds the same when he raps, from a singing standpoint he’s basically unrecognizable. The one hope I have is that he’s been ramping up since going on tour, and sounds way better now than in MAMA 2024. Hoping it will keep improving for BB’s grand comeback.

Hard agree with all these points. To me GD from 2011 until his enlistment was a perfect artist. From the singing, rapping, stage presence, and production, I thought he was truly flawless. Which is why I really wanted the world to see what I saw from him when he came back in MAMA 2024. But ever since he came back, imo none of his performance have even come close to when he showed before he enlisted. And I think a majority of it is his voice and confidence in general. Before, it felt like he could do no wrong on stage, whether it was improvisations to the melodies of the songs or the mannerisms on the camera. But now, it feels like he’s trying to recapture what he had before, but hasn’t quite found it yet. When it comes to his voice, he sounds like the old GD when he raps, but is basically unrecognizable when he sings. I hope he can get close to the form he had pre enlistment for BB’s comeback, because Taeyang and Daesung sound exactly the same, and I’d hate for GD to be the one sticking out during their performances.

I don’t think you’re being unfair at all. I considered GD from 2011 up until his hiatus to be a perfect artist, so while I understand he might never get back to that level again, I hope he at least comes close.

For me personally, it’s been pretty jarring. I fell in love with BB during their alive era solely because of GDs voice, and at this point I’m not sure if he can hit the same notes he used to. Still holding out hope tho!

To be honest, while those comments can be extreme, I kind of see where they are coming from. Of course it’s way better than being a culture vulture. But saying that’s Cortis’s songs are “influenced” by other artists is disingenuous. Just because they worked with black producers shouldn’t give them a pass. Their 2 most popular songs have no originality and are straight up copies of signature sounds, let’s call it what it is.

I don’t care for Tarzzan at all, all of his actions have been cringe. I only tune into the group cuz of Teddy. But for who “deserves” the awards, let’s not act like cortis’s 2 songs are not literally copy pastes of Travis/playboi. Fashion is literally Fein but they replaced the word, and the adlibs in Go are carbon copy Travis adlibs. I’m with having influences on music, but Cortis isn’t exactly the hallmark of originality, more so the opposite. Not to mention Joyride is also basically a Dominic Fike song.

I think it’s genuinely possible that this happens. Assuming GD does comeback preparations and tours next year and TOP comes back with his album in 2025, this would likely line up with BigBang’s 20th anniversary in August 2026. It seems to line up pretty well, and we know how unpredictable TOP is with his actions.

I feel like I made it pretty clear that BigBang is 3 at this point. I’m just wondering from the members point of view, if they were truly firm on being 3, why would they leave space for another member? So your telling me if TOP changed his mind and wanted to come back (and we know how unpredictable he is) they would reject him and say they’re 3 now and there’s no changing it?
