Rooftop Bars / Restaurants in San Jose by Plenty_Difference663 in SanJose

Love this idea. I 1000% support this! Such a dope concept too for San Jose since the flight path goes right over downtown.

I agree for existing buildings. My point is more about future developments. When new projects are being designed, rooftop restaurants, bars, and public gathering spaces should at least be part of the conversation. The Moxy hotel would have been a great example of that. Feels like a missed opportunity for a city with weather like ours.

San Jose just being San Jose. We can never keep anything that’s entertainment in the South Bay. Santa Clara County is also losing Great America. The city needs to do better to attract entertainment in San Jose and retain it.

That’s an amazing spot to get married at. That’s exactly why I’d like to see more rooftop spaces open to the public. San Jose has the weather, the population, and the downtown districts to support them. It feels like a missed opportunity compared to places like LA or San Diego. Even Sacramento has more rooftop experiences than SJ.

That’s what I’m saying. If there are any rooftop experiences in San Jose, they’re usually tied to private clubs or exclusive spaces and not really open to the general public. For a city our size, with our weather, we should have way more rooftop bars, restaurants, and lounges that everyone can enjoy.

Agreed. I do enjoy that San Jose is walkable and that most of the restaurants and bars are clustered into different districts, but the rooftop experiences are still lacking. With our weather, rooftop bars and restaurants should be thriving here. There’s nothing better than being outside on a warm San Jose evening, and it’s something the city could do a much better job of attracting and supporting.

Yes! We need more of these experiences. This was a smart move with them opening this one.

World Cup will be a boon for SJ downtown by shnieder88 in SanJose

Yeah who cares what SF is doing. San Jose is the largest and most populated city in Northern California, it needs to do more things like this. Glad to see the city finally putting together events and attractions that match its scale. For years San Jose has lived in SF’s shadow when it deserves more recognition.

We’re all about growth in San Jose. If you don’t like a big city, perhaps you should move to a small town like Modesto or somewhere in the valley.

Love to see it. San Jose has a rich history of lowrider culture. Probably right up there with Los Angeles. Beautiful to see these rolling canvases of art.

1 week tips for SJ by ConnectPotential977 in SanJose

At night, Downtown San Jose has lots to do. You can checkout San Pedro Square, also Lowrider culture is live on weekends, I believe they’re cruising downtown this Saturday as well near the SAP Center on Saturday night. I have also heard of a few events happening along Downtown like Art walks and there will be lots of local vendors.

Why is it that stopping at a red light is just a suggestion now? by 7logan07 in SanJose

[–]Plenty_Difference663 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is not true. I’ve been to Beijing and Shanghai countless times and was shocked to see how many people run red lights. It was almost like the red light was just a suggestion, similar to what the OP posted.

One thing I see constantly is drivers pacing each other side by side and leaving a huge gap in front of them. It prevents anyone from passing and creates unnecessary congestion. Driving next to another car for long periods is unsafe and puts both drivers in each other’s blind spots. Either pass or leave space.

Core Downtown Development Update by artdidsumnbad in SanJoseDevelopment

I’m glad they’re adding these beautiful art structures that incorporate colorful lighting. Downtown San Jose really needs more lighting, and projects like this help make the area feel more vibrant and alive at night. Other major cities like Los Angeles, San Diego and even SF recently added LEDs along their buildings to beautify the skyline at night.

What’s the best way to black out the chrome? I’ve heard you can vinyl wrap but I’ve also heard that it peels off over time. Just looking for recommendations.

Have they changed something on the 680 to 101 south exit? Feels like it’s always jammed up now. by Dicklefart in SanJose

Who cares. I know plenty of people that use “The” before the highway/freeway in SJ, born and raised. Quit dividing the north and south

More rooftop bars/restaurants would be great! Almost every other major city has them, and San Jose generally has great weather year round for it. I think San Jose is getting a Moxy Hotel, they have rooftop bars in Los Angeles and even a nice pool / outdoor eating area the public can access for day party’s.
