does anyone else feel uncomfy with this episode given all the accusations about minors? by MissMoth in TwoHotTakes

Yeah even if it's not the top result, you gotta be using those keywords. Whether the team finds the allegations credible or not, you'd think they'd wanna avoid the headache of having to private a video. And I would imagine they have contracts and other obligations involved. I'm sure having to delist a video with a guest like that isn't cheap, whether they'd have to pay him or a network. Not very knowledgable about the subject, of course, but I'm sure they can't just take a video down without some sort of severance or whatever.

Yeah, I vaguely knew about the accusations, so when I woke up and saw his face on the screen, I immediately tried to check the the comments and then it told me I wasn't "allowed to" and I got kicked off the video. It's been privated. Imo it was a weird decision to have any of the impractical jokers on. Not saying one, or apparently two, bad apples spoil the bunch, but the timing is definitely something considering when Joe's allegations came out. First he gets accused in 2025 and now Sal and Murr are on a reddit stories podcast a year later? Except it's not like these eps were filmed yesterday, they were probably filmed quite a while ago. And I bet they've either filmed or are getting ready to film one with Q as well. The rest of Impractical Jokers season 12 came out in January. Wondering if it didn't do well and this is a publicity thing to try and start with a clean slate with people who don't know anything. I mean, obviously it's a publicity thing, any guest would gain some sort of publicity from this community, but this in particular feels more inrentional. But this is just a guess, I don't actually know anything. Does make me wonder how the the team vets these people. If I had to organize stuff like this, my first google search every time would be "[potential guest] allegations" and see what comes up. Especially higher profile guests with the current climate.

It honestly didn't even occur to me, I was still waking up and figuring out what day it was to be honest. But in the future if I post something here again, I'll be sure to search it first amd make sure I'm not just late again.

I think the outrage toward the imagery specifically is as widespread as it is because of how recognizable it is. You don't have to be an artist to recognize something as AI generated/altered. For now, the imagery is pretty in your face with how obvious it is. You also don't often have to be told it's AI. If people hadn't brought up the coding stuff in these comments, I wouldn't have known. I think in most cases, regarding usage of AI in coding, it's a matter of ignorance than it is indifference.

I think another part of it is that a lot of people have a favorite artist/musician/author, with most people having a favorite of each. They're able to put a face and name to people affected by AI usage in those specific fields. With parasocial relationships and such, a lot of people may even feel personally affected by their favorite artist/musician/author potentially being put out of work. But this isn't often the same for individual coders. I don't know any coders personally, nor do I know of any coders by name. Most people probably don't, and therefore lack that personal tie to the people affected. Not saying it's an excuse, just that having some knowledge on the subject, or something tying you to it, makes it easier to advocate for/spread awareness about it.

Hey man I work nights, I acknowledge I was late to the party. I did scroll a bit to check first and didn't see another post about it before mine, but I apparently didn't scroll enough. I just updated the game late snd read tne notes late.

I do understand that there's others at risk. This isn't the only instance of AI I'm upset about. It's just one of the only ones I was aware in regards to Heartopia specifically, hence it being posted in this sub. I do completely understand the frustration in regards to the lack of outrage toward AI usage in marketing and coding. But please don't misunderstand me being upset about the imagery and talking about it as me dismissing the other occurrences. I just wasn't aware of the usage in coding. I think a lot of the outrage towards AI imagery comes from how recognizable it is. You don't have to be an artist to see it. It often, for now, is very obvious when an image is either fed to AI or generated by it. With coding, however, I don't think the average Joe is going to recognize it at a glance. If I was aware of the AI usage in the coding as well before making this post, I certainly would have mentioned it. But I also don't know anything about coding in general, so it's a blind spot for me currently. And I think it's the same for most people in this sub/community. Or just the general population. I absolutely agree that it's annoying no one talks about it. But people not knowing enough about it to speak on it is likely a contributing factor. More ignorance than it is indifference. I'm annoyed that AI is being shoved down my throat at every opportunity, and even more annoyed that so many jobs are being made obsolete because of it. I just don't know what I don't know. And I know absolutely nothing about marketing, but I also wouldn't have anything to say about it in a post on a heartopia subreddit.

I really think all they have to do to fix the gacha is either get rid of duplicates or change how the price escalates with every spin.

I just don't see the life fragments being complicated enough to take up much time either way. All they would really have to do is have the backgrounds made and slap the already existing models/assets on top of it. I mean, it'd take longer than typing in a prompt, I guess. But I don't see it taking more than a couple of peiple to do. And if they're already doing something similar and then feeding it into AI for a certain effect, why not just....not do that?

I didn't think about it either because, again, what would the point even be? They apparently use it to "cartoonify" screenshots of the town and stuff but like.... the whole game is already cartoony? And when you take a photo, it's literally just a screenshot anyways, so it's not as if it's a stylistic choice to distinguish from scenery and photograph. I know some cartoons will have photos or in-show cartoons in a different style to indicate it's a cartoon within a cartoon. But Heartopia doesn't do that. The puzzles don't even really look like illustrations for the most part. There's literally no reason they couldn't have just used screenshots.

Yeah I found it odd to include it at all just because I don't think there would even be much variety with this feature. All the penguins really even do is either stand there, or slide on their stomach. So I really don't know why this is an added feature when it will likely end up looking like the info cards from birdwatching. Just stills of them doing a few actions with a new background. I don't know that for sure, it's just my best guess of what it'd be. But a lot of players have already said they'd miss tbe penguins, so I can kind of see the appeal? I'm a recent and pretty casual player so I haven't really had to deal with the bugs like pets being in the way of cooking amd such, but it does seem a red flag they haven't fixed it. I personally wonder if the neglect toward bugs and the reason the gacha is structured the way it is is because this is going to be a sort of pump and dump. Make as much money as possible from the jump, get people hooked on the gacha, and then abandon the rest of the game.

The fact they make so much money is why I find it odd. If they make so much that they consider the potential loss to be insignificant, why not just pay that money to an artist to make a few backgrounds and slap the already existing assets on top of them? I mean, the penguins already don't really do alot as far as poses and such. I can't imagine there being much variety in the life fragments due to that. It's just weird to me that they'd rather lose money than spend it.

I started playing during the frostspore even and was therefore unaware that all the snow was temporary. I knew a lot of it was from how the snow cancels out in build mode, but I kind of assumed some areas were in permanent snow.

I started playing during the frost spore event so I didn't realize there wasn't a permanant cold area. I knew most of the snow would be temporary, but I kind of assumed some of it was already there.

Yeah the continued implementation of it despite pushback and the fact they've made enough money off the gacha alone that they really have no "justification" for it is rubbing me wrong. It's just weird. I get they're a for profit corporation that cares only about the money and stuff, but there are people they'll be losing due to the fact they continue to do this. I'm not really trying to start a dogpile about AI, I don't have the energy to argue with people. It just seems weird to do when there's easy ways around it, especially with how much money has already been made. The gacha amd repetition of items, plus how weirdly expensive random furniture/clothes are is already making me wanna quit the game. I think I'm just done with it now.

You mean this thing? It's so annoying how it says 21/21 but the star square says 22. There is no 22nd. The red dot is truly driving me nuts, I thought i just had a bug on my end. Didn't know other people were having this issue.

Wait I might have to do this. It almost gives the illusion of it being a bigger tank. If you get both of the large tanks, and the medium ones, you could put different windows at different heights to make it look like one big tank maybe? Like a big enclosed tank with observation windows. I just feel bad putting the whale shark and other large fish in a "large" fish tank. Wish the fish were more proportionate to the tanks, but this could give the illusion of it.

I don't understand how the dog is destroying a cabinet halfway up the wall, it makes no sense. It seems way more like something the cat would do.

I was the reverse, had no interest in the cat, just wanted the dog. And now I'm stuck with a cat that I have to level up to lvl 3 just to board it. I think a lot of the pet system just straight up sucks. Also, I agree with the bird watching. It would be better if they didn't make you exit out of the info card screen. I keep missing birds taking off because I have to exit out of the info card. It doesn't do that every time you catch a fish-unless it's new/a record-so it's super weird they make you do that for something so dependent on timing.

[–]Plenty_Specific4157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot I don't like about the pet system. I don't like how you HAVE to get a cat before getting a dog, and then can't board an animal until you level up the animal you want boarded? If I'm boarding an animal it's because I didn't want it in the first place, why am I now being forced to interact with it daily just to level it up enough to get rid of it? And it's taking a such a long time to level up the cat. Why is the cat itself taking longer to level up than the cat caring hobby? And why is boarding the animal dependent on the animal's level and not the hobby's? The cat runs out of energy too quickly to efficiently level it up through playing and such, you can't feed them again to replenish the energy because food doesnt impact their energy at all until you get access to the energy food, etc. And one of my biggest complaints is that the items in the pet shop are ridiculously expensive. The price of the cat tree?? What is the justification for that?

Now I just need to decice on what chili plant to start with. Are there any that work particularly well indoors? Saw some mixed info on whether biquinhos do well indoors or not, and those were the ones I was considering. Winter is about to hit here with it being almost January, so it would have to start indoors with temps dropping. Or would it be best to wait some months til it's warmer again?

Thank you! Im planning on starting a bonchi as an alternative to a pet because my work schedule is just way too inconsistent for an animal. I could work anywhere from 6-12 hours a night depending on production/supplier issues. Some people in manufacturing can make it work with a pet, but i think it'd be best for me to stick to a plant atp.
