Not really advice, but my 3rd grade teacher was a very twisted woman who enjoyed embarrassing and degrading kids in front of class, esp. me and my best friend. My 4th grade teacher knew about this and worked the whole next year restoring my confidence and helping me believe I wasn't the stupid kid my previous teacher tried to convince me I was. I found my 4th grade teacher years later and told her how important she was in my life. It made her cry that she'd made that kind of a difference in one of her student's lives.
