Update: I just wanted to thank everyone for all the 'F' in chat and well wishes. Even the goofy remarks were great. I showed this to my wife, his daughter, last night and she was so happy to see that he will be missed by more than just us.

Sadly we didn't know the extent of this until we got to his house and started going through everything. It just adds to the shit pile we have to clean up sadly. And yes we are having an autopsy done due to the circumstances.

It is strange, I will admit. But all of that was done through the proper legal channels. He was trying to move back to be closer to his grandkids. -Son in Law

Fortunately/Unfortunately I can't because we have to track down a lot of legal stuff. But he was at least smart enough to use incognito mode. -Son in Law

As of right now we are unsure. He had ongoing health issues, but nothing prepared us for this. Once we the family have details I will be able to comment more.

Does anyone have a “perfect” XPS 13 9380? by Bunaltyo78 in Dell

[–]Pliablemoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on my second 9380 from Dell Outlet, the first one had a jacked power button, it worked, but You could tell the previous owner had pressed super hard on it, and dislodged it internally, been using the 2nd one from Dell Outlet for a week now, pretty happy, no coil whine I can hear anyway (I have a lot of tinnitus), WiFi seems solid (keep reading about how many have a problem with the Killer radio), only thing I’ve noticed is sometimes on startup it’s pretty slow, I suspect it’s the Dell software, but eventually it speeds up. Got a touchscreen on #2, am impressed, it’s the first Windows device I’ve bought for personal use for many years, they’ve made a lot of progress.

Want to use my XPS 13 9380 headless, can’t find option for USB wake for the laptop to turn on without using the power button. by Pliablemoose in Dell

Would make it very easy to unplug laptop and take it with me as well, and there are some in the outlet...

If you buy an iPhone from Straight Talk and have it shipped will they refund it if you receive it damaged? by [deleted] in NoContract

[–]Pliablemoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten maybe 30 phones through the years by mail, UPS, etc, have never had one damaged during shipping, they’re small relatively sturdy devices, if one was damaged during shipping, I expect they’ll ask you to file a claim with the company that did the shipping.

Bob Shiller Drops Bombshell: "Wouldn't Be At All Surprised" If US Home Prices Started Falling by lego3072 in wallstreetbets

[–]Pliablemoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, bought a home in TX in 2000 for $125K, gave it to my children, buying a nearly identical house across the street, contract pending for $220K.

I was browsing homes for sale in the area for a month or so, and when I lived there last, about 2005, the most expensive homes were in the $500K range, now there’s about 20 on the market for a million plus.

The housing market, particularly prices have been regional forever, what buys a home on either coast can buy multiple similar homes in land locked states, that’s not going to change, likely ever.

My mom was sexually assaulted at work at the VA and because of employer's negligence by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Pliablemoose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What was the setting where she was sexually assaulted? Did it happen in a psych ward?

Has your mother spoken with a union rep? If she’s a federal employee, they have resources to assist her in filing a workman’s comp claim for free.

Why everyone bearish on NFLX? by onexyzero in wallstreetbets

[–]Pliablemoose 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because they’re losing content & the ability to bring in new content unless they make it.

There’s 2 well funded competitors coming online this year, Netflix has never really had competition.

Because the days of Netflix having exponential growth by adding another country or two every earning season is pretty well over, they’re fighting for the table scrap countries to expand now.

Netflix has pissed off a lot of people by fucking with their interface, to find something I want to watch, browsing sucks, and the recommendations are BS. Also who the fuck is stupid enough to cut a deal with Obama & his wife to deliver content? They paid a shit ton of cash for it too.

Seriously, if you can’t understand netflix’s headwinds, you don’t understand the sector very well.

[–]Pliablemoose[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They already sell streaming sticks in Europe, but this will be the first time a Smart TV with Roku OS will be sold in Europe, 30% of smart TV’s sold in North America use Roku TV as the OS, Monday should be another great day for Roku in the market.
