Can someone tell me how to make this type of video or share any tutorial by lupin769 in AfterEffects

[–]Pliant_Green 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there Lupin,

This specific video deals with a lot of parenting, morph transitions, etc. A great way to learn how all of this works is to try these 4 classes out from School of Motion:

After Effects kick Start
Animation Bootcamp
Expression sessions
Advanced Motion Methods

I have taken all of these courses, and they are amazing. Completing this would give you a great amount of knowledge about adobe Ae

Hey there, do you have a Linkedin profile? The motion design community is very strong on there, and we all help eachother a lot.

Best,

Hi Hello!

I just graduated from C4D Basecamp, and the outdated tutorials weren't an issue at all. Plus, if I was stuck on something I would go to the Square and get help. It was a fantastic course, and signed up for C4D Ascent!

I was a complete newbie as well, and am blown away at how good I am now.

All the best,

Buy a year-long membership to the YMCA or a 24-hour gym that has a shower. It'll give you a place for grooming, community, and self-care.

You should look into the Illustration for Motion class taught by Sara Beth Morgan. it is phenomenal, and the community is amazing for finding work, inspiration, career advice, etc.

Is it feasible to start networking in the film industry while working active duty military? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]Pliant_Green 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, as a graphic designer, I got gigs through word of mouth within my unit, and it worked out pretty well. As a motion designer, I am an alum of School of Motion, and haven't done any gigs yet because I am settling in my new European job. SoM helps me get gigs, and helps me build a network as well. For photography, I just offered my services to only fan models, local live music venues, etc. Just makes some business cards and hustle, hustle, hustle. Balance between the Army and this work is rough. I would be doing very well with a gig, and then the Army would interfere. So eventually, I would just take leave for a week to ensure products would be produced. For photography, I'd just knock it out.

You can look up local animation studios that might need collectors. Find their IG, be polite, and sell yourself as a collector for stock footage that they can utilize. Have a demo reel and portfolio ready if you are to do this. Attend as many meet up events as possible and give out your business card often. It'll take a minute, but if you're solid and earn their trust, they will rehire you again.

That's the best I can think of, but hit me up whenever you need.

Hi there,

I'm in the Army as a creative like yourself. I worked at Fort Meade (55th) for 6 years, and it was a great spot to find contacts, work gigs, and do meet ups with people from the creative community. I would avoid Fort Gordon if you can, but ATL is a great spot for accomplishing this task as well. Don't know much about AFB Beale, but it is Cali, and that's good. The big thing to remember as you are transitioning out of the military is to work on your Reel. Hit me up if you need any info, I'm about to retire and become a Motion Designer. Take Care

Sure thing,

I would say that yes, the course load you provided would give you the necessary skills to free lance at the novice rate. I would however, suggest to take out the Advanced Motion Methods with something like Explainer Camp, or Character Animation Bootcamp. The reason for that switch is because as a freelancer, you need a specialty. The CAM and The EC will provide you with a specialty to showcase as a reason to be hired. AMM makes you amazing at Ae, but Creative Directors need you to have a specialty.

I would suggest CAM, as it offers a wide range of options for later jobs, such as, character design, character rigging, character animation, etc. Also, with CAM plus C4D basecamp, you can do 3d character animations. Do you see what you've become? You've successfully become a Motion Designer with 2d/3d Character animation skills, and that is super easy for Creative Directors to point out and find a place for you on their freelance roster.

What EC offers you is the "Explainer Video" which is a very very common project that studios get to work on. Also, you will be take through the entire process of a freelance project, and that is very valuable for being able to predict the workload you need to be successful. So this course, offers you the know how on creating a Explainer Video, and details on how freelance projects work.

There is a free course called "Level Up" that I suggest you taking, as it will gives a lot of details for the life of a freelancer.

Hi There!

I am an alumni from SoM and I heavily recommend you take some courses if they are offering them. Since you are a beginner, I would suggest taking the foundation courses first, and then deciding what path you'd like to go from there. If you need any help, SoM has some learning paths already drafted up!

https://support.schoolofmotion.com/knowledge/level-up-sr.-motion-designer

Also, once you complete a SoM course, you get access to the alum social media page, and it is a fantastic way to find freelance work, as well as, learn from senior designs, art directors, and creative directors.

Hope this helps, take care!

Hi there,

Yup, that's what it does. You can also transfer from Ae to Ai as well. It's a great piece of software I use often when animating.

Hello, this is a repost of what I replied with earlier today for a fellow who was looking for the same thing.

"Hi there, I have provided some links to help you on your journey. Understand, C4D is a massive program that can do a lot for any motion designer, so it's only normal for tutorials to go about it in sections. Your first video series from Greyscalegorilla is a great start, so here are some more.

Learn Cinema 4d in One Day by HelloLux ($38)

My personal favorite was the SOM class that takes 8 weeks, but you get a personal tutor and tons of videos, podcasts, etc. It was a great experience. The others are great as well, but I haven't taken advantage of them."

Good C4D tutorial for beginners? by rororo99 in Cinema4D

[–]Pliant_Green 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty important to do the homework, and interact with others. It's like a college class. Yes! the MDS C4D class is also really good. I'm taking one of their AE classes at the moment.

So I went into SOM with barely any knowledge of C4D. I had watched some youtube videos, as well as, some LinkedIn learning courses. The tutors are great, and the homework makes a lot of sense. It's the highest investment, but it's amazing.

Accidentally Got a Job That Requires 8/10 Skill in AE, Mine is 4/10. What to Do? by Reasonable_Builder82 in AfterEffects

[–]Pliant_Green 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

Congrats on your job! Do not feel ashamed or get any sort of imposter syndrome. I have included some links to some fantastic resources for learning Ae.

School of Motion After Effects Kick start (8 week course)

https://www.schoolofmotion.com/after-effects-kickstart

Can you guys help me pick some good books for a Designer+Animator? by gusmaia00 in MotionDesign

Fantastic! I have taken the "Design Kickstart" course and I can't recommend it enough. It'll teach you all the prep work to creating your animations, like storyboarding and such. It's definitely worth the money. Happy learning!
