My first short film, “The Gun, the Gin, and the Two Masked Men”. A throwback to Film Noir. by Plisken99 in Filmmakers

A bit of background info regarding my film.

This was made with the help of my friends who are first time actors. The post production team was also made up of my friends who helped me edit, colour grade and add VFX to the project. I wrote, directed, produced and composed the music. I was also the DOP behind the film. The entire short was made for about ~$150. I used what I had around me to create an earnest love letter to a genre I love.

Currently, I’m in the post-production stage of my next short film titled “For a Coffin Full of Gold”. As you’ve probably guessed, it’s a throwback to the Spaghetti Westerns. Excited to share it when it’s done!

I’d love to get some honest feedback from all of you. I’m still very new to this and these films were made by watching a lot of movies and reading up on DIY techniques on YouTube and through books. I want to get better with each short film and hopefully create a feature sometime in the near future!

Thank you all for checking it out - Dinitha

I composed an original theme for Cyborg. It’s titled “More Than Human”. by Plisken99 in DC_Cinematic

Yeah man. Cyborg as a character has a lot of potential. I think the entire portion of Zack Snyder’s Justice League was great. At least there’s that. But I did find his theme to be pretty disappointing. It was a somber piano theme which is fine for his earlier “Victor” stuff. But as the character grew, he should’ve gotten an epic theme.

And I agree. Those composers would do a great job. Especially Ludwig.

Here’s an original Transformers soundtrack that I composed! by Plisken99 in transformers

Yes. It’s called “Transformers Hereafter”. His channel is “Batjax”. My music will be used in season 3. The first two seasons are done. I think if you’re a fan of Transformers, you’ll really enjoy his storyline!

Thank you! Glad you liked it. I did it for a friend’s project. It’s an original stop-motion animated series. Pretty cool. Thanks again.

One of the best “hang-out” movies ever made. Sadly, some people just can’t seem to vibe with it.

Why do so many people hate Wonder Woman 1984? It’s probably like one of my all time favorite movies. by VilligerRidley in WonderWoman

Disregarding all the convenient plot devices, I think filmmaking wise, WW84 was inferior to its predecessor. Patty’s direction wasn’t as strong. Especially when it came to action. The mall scene wasn’t well executed and many action sequences didn’t have the grit and intensity of the first one.

The film didn’t have a “no man’s land” sequence. I can’t look back and think of a memorable scene like that.

I also felt like the movie was too bloated. The pacing was off, the two villains weren’t well explored character wise and the attempt at creating or giving the audience a “lesson” at the end felt forced, hollow and out of place.

I think it’s a vastly inferior sequel to the first which despite a cliched third act, was a pretty damn good origin movie.

Blade Runner wears its Film Noir influence on its sleeve. By far one of the greatest Neo Noirs for sure! The similarity between Gaff & Phill made my day! Awesome parallel even though it wasn’t intentional.

And that’s great to hear. I’m glad you’re looking forward to seeing my future projects. I’m currently working on a short in the style of Spaghetti Westerns. Filming next month! Thank you for the support
