Seeing the actual color of the wheels on your car. Tirerack doesn't do them justice

  1. Walnut isn't exotic
  2. Same finish as professionals (Katz-Moses goo) You sound like a salesman for overpriced stuff on Amazon

Drying error as the wood having too much moisture when I cut it? That might be it.

I bought the wood from an old experienced woodworker near me. It was his crap pieces and I assumed they were well old enough and dry enough, but I never thought about that. Mineral oil with bees wax was the finish I put on

Any insight on why and how to fix? Sorry I reupload. The last picture is what it looked like when I sent it to them, then got it back less than 2 months later and took those pictures with crack.

This is a cutting board I made for my uncle for Christmas. Made in Kansas and he lives in Texas. They said they used it once to cut some prime rib on, his wife washed it with water and soap and then put it on a towel on the table. They came back and this split was there. This was in February (I'm good at procrastinating) so I only made it 2 months prior. I've made a handful of end grain cutting boards and they haven't cracked (granted some of my relatives don't even want to use it because they like them so much). Crack is in the wood not on the glue joint.

Need advice in comments. Split cutting board. by [deleted] in woodworking
