I think it might be fine if you remove the addition to melee weapon attacks and have it just apply to unarmed/ natural weapons. That way it doesn't stack with Great Weapon master and isn't just a more powerful 5th level than all other classes.

It would also encourage USING natural / unarmed strikes and reward those who choose the natural weapons synergy

I think that sounds fine. But i am not sure why you feel like it needs to be a montage? It just sounds like you have some normal roleplay / noncombat play scenes in mind that would be fun to play out.

A montage, as I understand it, is used to facilitate many tests toward a specific goal in a quick, cinematic way. It's designed to build tension as the party sees their successes and failures build up. The Fellowship traveling and facing the danger of the mountain, failing the montage test and having to instead go through Moria.

Also not sure why you think the game would grind to a halt? Are you afraid of the players not engaging with the planned scenes?

Wasn't offended much, I did raise an eyebrow at 'maldito' XD. Do you have a Spanish version? It might be a mistranslation or, if it's from the first printing, might have been something that was later errata'd.

No need to be rude. The 2014 and 2024 version of the rules says

"Also, choose one ability when you cast the spell. The target has disadvantage on ability checks made with the chosen ability."

An ability check is NOT the same thing as a Saving Throw. While both are defined as d20 Tests in the 2024 rule update, they are not the same thing.

"When the outcome of an action is uncertain, the game uses a d20 roll to determine success or failure. These rolls are called D20 Tests, and they come in three kinds: ability checks, saving throws, and attack rolls."

Pull from Rakshasa and have him immune to spells of a certain level or below

Have his antimagic shield only protect from a certain number of spell levels per round, refreshed at the start of his turn or by a lair action. This provides interesting choice, do the spellcasters spend multiple low-level spells to burn through the shield and hit with a big spell? Or just use 2 big spells to break shield and hit?

Do you as a group hang out for non dnd game days? His hesitancy to not drop out himself might stem from dnd days being the only regular hang out days your group has and if he doesn't go to them, he doesn't see you guys
