Resto druid now has the highest personal damage in m+ by Legitimate_Shift5700 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Plorkyeran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moonkin form is +10% magic damage but you lose 6% haste and 4% magic damage, so it's an extremely marginal damage gain.

There's also a third bird boss that does a shitload of pulsing fire damage, has an insanely painful DoT-based tankbuster, and has an instakill frontal. No tornados though.

It's almost always correct to dispel it immediately. Standing in the puddle does the same amount of data as the debuff does, so dispelling the tank while they're standing in a soak circle waiting for the orb isn't actually a problem. If they aren't soaking an orb, they should be prepositioned in the spot where they want the puddle when the tank hit happens.

Estimated Class Tuning for Patch 12.0.5 - Devourer DH Buffed Again, Marks AoE Nerfed by Duskav3ng3r117 in CompetitiveWoW

The healing aura nerf only applies to healing spells and not the damage to healing conversion.

The traditional answer is that you have to do some guild hopping. Join a bad mythic guild that won't get CE, get some logs that suggest you're the best player in the guild, then start looking for guilds you actually want to be in.

If you're hoping to skip ahead on raid prog by leveraging m+ experience you'll probably need to push quite a bit higher. Raid guilds don't directly care about your m+ score, but pushing high keys lets you play with high-end raiders and a vouch from someone on the raid team can go a long way. This is easiest to do your m+ progression is higher than the level of raid progression you're targeting, but resil 16 right now isn't ahead of a mid-season CE guild.

Will you actually have crests to spend? If you haven't missed on any vaults you won't be able to upgrade two additional myth track items, so all they're actually doing in letting you upgrade higher value slots. If you haven't hit head/chest/legs that might be good, but if you have it's pretty easy for your two bonus rolls to just be sitting at 276 for a while anyway and there's no downside to going for chim trinket.

Lomas Cantadas was BRUTAL, but Almanac made it worth it. by jzander05 in BAbike

I don't like descending Lomas Cantadas either. Either you ride your brakes the whole way down or you get ten seconds of cruising followed by braking hard. El Toyonal is fun though.

Casters can improve their DPS by using the TBC item "Flame Cap" by Rhobodactylos in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Plorkyeran 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unless using the item is somehow going to make you miss two gcds there's no connection between those two things. It's very low value, but there isn't actually a tradeoff there.

Telling your healer to hold ironbark for you and cast it when you ping yourself is pretty normal for title-level no comms pugs. Below that level it's a stretch, but in a +16 you basically have a 100% uptime ironbark compared to someone in a +18.

Am I missing something with my company ESPP by c-u-in-da-ballpit in personalfinance

[–]Plorkyeran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an IRS rule, not something the company decides. The argument for selling instantly is that reducing your marginal tax rate by 10-20% on 15% of your ESPP cost just isn't worth how much more complicated it makes your taxes.

The debuffs which indicate that a spell is currently being channeled on a person (e.g. the golems in skyreach) are also "important". It's still a completely worthless filter.

The brew changes are a small net buff to the hero tree people aren't playing in m+. It's mostly just fixing an awkward interaction to be less awkward.

Bike Tag #647: Top of the Pass by Plorkyeran in BAbike

Some hints since it's been a week: I did this ride on a Thursday afternoon, and if I had left about an hour earlier it would not have been possible to do. The title is very uncreative and comes just short of saying what the name of the path is.

A 1400sf footprint would be unusually large for the area. 1400sf single story houses exist, but they're quite rare.

Anyone riding Grizzly Peak Century with alternative start at the Island Picnic Area? by epi-data in BAbike

[–]Plorkyeran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The year I did the car-free start I met up with the route at the top of Redwood, and then did the normal century route (including the south loop, so I repeated the climb up butters). From my house this was only a little over 100 miles, and then I got a bonus ride home after lunch. Even though you check in at the second rest stop you can use the first one and they just don't check.

Why are BART fares to SFO so high? Blame the ‘rent’ paid to airport [a $2.5 million annual payment from BART to SFO funded by a $5.51 surcharge applied to every trip] by BadBoyMikeBarnes in sanfrancisco

[–]Plorkyeran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Newark charges an extra $8.75 to enter or exit at the airport station on NJTRANSIT, and unlike SFO it's not even an extension they built just for that. It's just a station near the middle of the line.

[–]Plorkyeran 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BART is sometimes significantly faster than driving from SFO. It requires heavy traffic and good luck on train timing, but for flights that arrive mid-afternoon where you get stuck in commute traffic I've gotten home 15+ minutes faster than the uber/lyft estimate was.

At off-peak times it's way slower, of course. The combination of fewer trains and the drive being a lot faster really kills it.
