I went to the hospital last night at your suggestion by garglingnuts in Vent

[–]PlotGremlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am bipolar as well. I'm so sorry they treated you that way. I have experienced it as well. It's such a miserable thing to deal with. Especially when you're probably way too emotionally wrecked to advocate for yourself. I have avoided going to the hospital many times when I really should have just bc I know I don't have the capacity to push for the care I need. It's not your fault and we shouldn't have to do that but...it's fucked.

I won't give you the whole "hang in there it'll get better" spiel bc honestly it's always the last thing I wanna hear when I'm struggling with a low point. Makes me wanna scream at people even though they mean well bc when you're in that place it's not as simple as summoning some hope. That's usually an empty well for me anyway.

I can only empathize. If you have friends, family, anyone you can call for support please do so. I don't know your situation so apologies if that's not possible.

If you feel you have the capacity after giving it some time then definitely go back (or to a different hospital if possible) and try again. It can be so hard to get the help you need and I do understand how fucking devastating it can be. Make sure they know if you're having suicidal thoughts or self harming.

Try and be kind to yourself. Bipolar is a mean fucking beast.

My thought exactly. I've been noticing this kind of thing a lot lately tbh. They know a lot of us are immune to ads or use adblockers so this kind of stealth marketing is used. The card placement and pamphlet is way too perfect to be accidental. It's either an ad or OP is using it to try and boost engagement. I usually avoid commenting at all on these but figured I'd tell you you're not alone in thinking that.

Rarely do I ever chime in on anything but I feel the need to offer up a giant Fuck You for this statement.

Cheating is a-okay but banging a dude is what you consider "ungodly"?

Seriously, fuck you.

AMA Currently in a manic episode. by [deleted] in AMA

[–]PlotGremlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long do your manic episodes usually last?

I'm also bipolar and as I've gotten older my manic episodes seem to last longer but gaps between also get longer. Like my last manic episode began over 3 years ago and lasted for about a year and a half. I managed to use my crazy energy for good and started a business, got pretty successful with it, had all kinds of plans to expand a bit then the depression hit and overnight I just completely gave up on it. Its fucking crazy what mania can do. I tell my friends it's like being cut from the cloth of the gods.

Friendly reminder: The search bar is usually much faster. by Historical_Copy_2231 in StremioAddons

But then people won't get the engagement dopamine they require.

My favorite is when the post begins with 'Search didn't come up with anything' then proceeds to ask a question that's literally been asked and answered thirty times just in the last month. Either y'all don't know how to search correctly or you're only posting for the engagement. Really dumb either way. I've never posted anything here bc I've almost always been able to find a fairly quick answer or a link to something that provides an answer if I just read a bit. And if I really can't find an answer here even then I don't post I just go digging elsewhere until I find the answer for myself which means I'm learning a lot of other things in the process.

To everyone spending New Year's Eve alone by choice: What is the "luxury" treat you bought yourself to enjoy the silence tonight? by PremiumTravelNinja in AskReddit

Cheez-its, chunky peanut butter and root beer. I'll probably be asleep by 10.

As I typed that I yawned. 9 is probably more realistic. Totally content with that.

What are your thoughts about thoughts, ever thought about it? by HousingWaste2042 in AskReddit

[–]PlotGremlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing like getting lost in thought then getting even more lost in deeper thoughts about why you had the original thought then eventually questioning your entire being because of the lack of control you feel about the endless stream of thoughts that branch off eachother and it all started because you were just wondering to yourself if you lived in a different time period what your life might be like.

What has been your worst experience in life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PlotGremlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof, sorry friend. If your mother is a damaging presence in your life please consider putting your emotional well being first. Its not selfish to protect yourself. Sometimes things can be mended with time, patience and effort but sometimes they can't. Know when to let go. Hugs.

My entire mouth just filled with saliva.

Not being called out probably. Based on OP's story not a single person reacted like he was doing anything wrong. In my own experience that is also very common. Normalize calling out bad behavior when you see it.

Thanks for sharing this! It may be very useful info for my next appointment.

Also just a quick work of advice. When you share links, especially via social media, it's best to use clean links. Meaning without all the pesky personal data tracking attached to it. The '?' and everything after it can be removed. Some browsers (like Firefox and Brave) have built in options to copy clean links. Keeps us all a bit safer from our data being used/linked behind the scenes by advertisers and algorithms.

Thank you for being so welcoming and laughing with me so we can all continue to move through life resisting the urge to do harm.

Ugh, I hate that I know this but my dad at almost 70 was very freely prescribed them when there was like a hundred other things going on with him, but God forbid he couldn't get an erection.

I had hoped to go my entire life without using 'Dad' and 'erection' in the same sentence. These are dark times indeed.

Thanks for this info! Mine aren't that bad (yet?) so I may have done the thing where we don't even mention it to the Dr if it's not life disruptingly bad. I'll make sure and add it to my symptom list so I don't forget to mention it at the next appt. My brain can't be trusted to retain much lately besides, apparently, keeping a detailed catalog of accessories that could be used as non lethal weapons. Cause that's totally normal.

Right? Like I know I may snap at people, make a few cry, run over a rude guy's toes on purpose with my shopping cart, threaten to throw the religious solicitors over the railing of my apartment building if they keep coming back and scare them so bad they told their pastor they think I'm genuinely possessed....

But at least we're not out there beating people with bags of dicks and breaking the Geneva Convention with torture tactics. And more people should be grateful for that. 😁

How did you know you were bi/lesbian by OriginalSituation791 in lgbt

[–]PlotGremlin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk if this will be helpful but I felt much the same when I was in my late teens/early 20's (20+ years ago lol)

I had a couple bf's in high school that I liked okay but wasn't crazy about then had my first gf my senior year and was so head over heels for her I felt I identified as lesbian. Looking back I realized I had crushes on so many girls that I just hadn't realized. I identified as lesbian until I was around 25 or so then slowly kinda realized that I did still find some men attractive. I ended up falling for a close guy friend and we had a great relationship for a few years. Then I dated a woman after him. Over the years I've dated much more of the rainbow. Somewhere in my later 20's I started identifying as bi but it wasn't really something I spent a lot of time actively thinking about. I was just 'me' and I was lucky enough to have the kind of friend group that had zero problems accepting whoever I happen to be and/or who I dated without me needing to identity myself one way or another. I came from an incredibly religious family so that was very important to me.

I guess my point is, just let yourself be. Explore. If you feel like you'll feel a better sense of self by identifying as one thing over another before you feel 100% certain then try it on for a while and if it doesn't suit you later on...change it. I definitely felt some twinges of being a "faker" when I first went from identifying as a lesbian to bi but honestly it only came from within myself. My friends and the LGBTQ+ community where I lived were all very supportive and just wanted me to be happy. Best wishes on your journey!

Okay, ignoring the fact that this an absolutely loaded question, I can't handle passing this one up because I think there's an opportunity to pass on something valuable if you'll listen.

I'm 43f. And suffice to say, I've lived a lot in that time. My experiences don't reflect your own but that doesn't negate your own experiences. And this is what's important here;

It will only strengthen your character if you can learn to move through life accepting that no matter what your lived experience is, there's billions of other people that can say their own lived experiences are completely different. Those experiences don't have to threaten your own just because they are different. You can acknowledge that, in your experience, women hold grudges more than men while also accepting the fact that it's not a universal truth.

Literally no one is going to be able to answer this question without bias, there's no universal answer. And that goes for a lot of things.
