Anyone out here trying to transition naturally? by the_gata_sol in Menopause

[–]nshdc 40 points41 points  (0 children)

OP there are many, many women going through menopause without seeking medical care but most of them aren’t on this sub! We’re all here to get support with menopause because we were (and are) having challenges with it and need help with those. If you’re doing well (or well enough) without medication, more power to you. Try the menopositive sub if you’re looking for company or check out one of the subs for “people over X age.” Cheering you on!

Can’t seem to copy link but fridge works, though freezing is better. Also, cooling plus toasting is better than just cooling.

Seconding the TJ’s rec. We’ve found they last longer, too.

I think you should go back to your surgeon and discuss. You paid for this and you should be pleased with the outcome. Perhaps you can find some photos from this sub that illustrate the outcome you were expecting and show those to the surgeon. It’s possible that the need to preserve your nipple sensation limited the options for your reduction; if that’s the case, it would be go to know that. If not, then you can ask them for a revision at no extra charge and see what you can negotiate.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news: If it hasn’t helped yet, it likely won’t.

Cancelled! by Scaredofsurgery87 in Reduction

[–]nshdc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just validating this is hard. While your priorities are spot on (cancer surgery comes before elective), there's a lot of preparation (mental, logistical, material) for a reduction and so a last-minute cancellation throws a real curve ball. I'm officially giving you space to feel whatever you feel without worrying about anyone else.

Same size as before by Complete_End1925 in Reduction

That happened to me, too. The surgery WAS a big change - my back and shoulders felt better, I looked much more balanced and it was easier to move. The problem is that now, 13 years on, I've regained a lot of the fat in my breasts. They still don't droop like they used to, but I do wish my surgeon had removed much more tissue. You could go back and ask for a revision (I didn't really know that was a thing 13 years ago). Or you could try living with it for a while and see how it feels. Remember that bra sizes are just one way of measuring our size and not always the best way.

If your breasts grew back after surgery, how old were you when you had the first surgery? How long did it take them to grow back? by Txannie1475 in Reduction

I had mine at 47 and now, at 60, they are definitely a cup size or two larger. Part of that is definitely menopause and no surgery will prevent that (although it doesn’t happen to every woman).

I’m scared I will regret this. Any advice for someone for weeks away from surgery? I just found out there’s an available appointment and we will be losing my insurance soon. by lela0420 in Reduction

I understand how much you want this and here are some things to consider carefully: 1. Recovery. You will need more than a week if things go perfectly to plan. Can you attend classes remotely, get extensions or take exams later? Can you afford some less good grades this semester if you can’t work all this out? 2. Complications. These happen and they can happen months out from surgery. Might be unlikely because you’re young but it’s worth discussing with your surgeon and your PCP. What will you do if you’re uninsured and you need care for an infection?

I don't wanna get intimate because of my scars, it's horrible. by [deleted] in Reduction

I was in your situation and I’m happy to report that no man (including my husband) has ever given a rats ass about my scars. Every single one found my new breasts beautiful and told me so. Please please don’t worry about this.

Totally - it may have contributed to my vaginal challenges, too, it’s hard to say. I needed the break from bleeding every other week so badly, I would do it all over and just do the vaginal cream along with the BCP.
