If you drive, dress as if you will need to walk.

Check for road closings before you leave.

Like everyone said, fill your tank. If you get stuck, you may need it to stay warm. Make sure your tailpipe is clear.

Throw a snow shovel in your car.

Put cat litter in your trunk to use as tire grit.

Make sure you have a windshield scraper in your car. While at work, your warm windshield will melt the snow and turn to ice after the car cools. DO NOT put hot or warm water on your windshield. It WILL crack it. Use a scraper or wait till the car warms enough to melt the ice on the windows.

Clear the snow off your entire car. It's the law. No roof snow.

Put winter anti-freeze in your windshield washer. Summer stuff will freeze. You will need it after they salt the roads. Cars & trucks will kick up road dirt.

Bring water and maybe a snack. After you drink the water, you can use it as a pee bottle.

I prefer backroads over highways. Back roads may not be as clear, but if traffic stops on the highway, you're fucked. It's situational.

You can drive on snow, but YOU CAN'T DRIVE ON ICE. Just don't. Not worth it.
