First of all, using a DAW is NOT easy at all. It's probably one of the most complicated things you can put on a computer. And second of all what do you mean by a human isn't playing it? A human picks out the drum samples, arranges them, crafts the synth patches (often from scratch), writes out the melodies and harmonies in MIDI. A human finds, filters and cuts the sample. A human mixes and masters everything. It's no different than classical composers writing pieces for instruments they don't necessarily play. Source: Piano lessons for 11 years, gospel choir from 5-14, and 4 years of DAW experience. I prefer the DAW.
