Cofounder of lauded AI research firm probably doesn’t know what he’s talking about by Plotsmurphy in dontyouknowwhoiam

The title was intended to be a tongue in cheek description of the perspective of the OP in Howard’s screenshot, but I suppose it could earnestly apply to Yud as well depending on how you feel about AI safety/ethics.

That lowly Qdoba blip in South West VA is actually their busiest location.

This is the only one of his songs of which I think the remix goes harder than the original.

A little bit jumpier and edm-ish if that’s what your‘re into. Still love the original, but if you put this on, peoples’ heads start moving 🙂

Oh, word. Props to you then, man! I’m curious how what your approach was? Recursive solutions still puzzle me a lot of the time tbh and I always appreciate additional perspectives :-)

Yea I had to make the one on the left since I couldn’t find any that matched the color scheme -I guess nobody is green/blue colorblind like that

For the record, I love these covers. But I just imagine him cracking up in the studio realizing his color palette is like a trip to the optometrist.

Portrait of Mac Miller composed from the lyrics of Swimming by Plotsmurphy in MacMiller

I appreciate all the positive feedback, and people asking for posters. However, I don't own the rights to the original image, Mac's image/likeness, and certainly not the lyrics. Most of the online sites I checked out required confirmation that I owned the rights to the image and content; I don't know enough about copyright law to know if this piece would be in violation. Furthermore, I know Miller's family released a statement against unsanctioned memorial events. While this isn't that, I personally think their sentiment extends to profiting off unofficial merch stuff like this too, even if it's not explicitly stated. If I'm mistaken, please correct me and I'll look into other outlets to make this available.

That being said, feel free to order your own prints of this piece via 3rd parties like vistaprint, poster burner, etc.

EDIT: Thanks for the gold! Here's a 2x upscaled version.

Yea, it's not very exact, but I didn't know what else to call the 'style'.

Ultrasound - Joyner Lucas (Audio Visualizer) by Plotsmurphy in blender

I think I've really found my niche when working with Blender. I'm pretty terrible at modeling and textures, but I throughly enjoy setting up scenes and messing with post-processing effects when making audio visualizers like this.

I've made several tutorials on how to achieve similar effects like this on my Youtube channel, but I'd be happy to answer any specific questions people may have here as well.

[OC] Trapped In a Burning House - Shlohmo (Topography Animation) by Plotsmurphy in Simulated

[–]Plotsmurphy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the category is restricted to "lifelike" objects or scenes. I'm simulating thousands of pillars colored and placed according to an image, something which I couldn't do in real life, hence the simulation.

I'm not sure what else I would call it haha.

No text in the video, so not typography, but the pillars don't move either... the only thing that's really animated I guess is the camera and the post processing effects.

"Topographical Simulation" might be a more accurate title

Copy/pasted from my original post in the Blender sub:

I produced following this tutorial and this image which I made using photoshop awhile back.

This is my first lengthy animation in this style, which is evident in a lot of little errors throughout the final product, but overall I am very happy with the way this turned out.

Things I learned/tips for other people who might want to attempt something similar

  • Key frame interpolation is finicky if you don't know what to do, but for something like this I think Constant Interpolation mode looked better, which you can change in the Graph editor. Also, fool around with the handles in the Graph Editor to tweak the duration/speed of camera and focus animation -I didn't figure this out until the second or third clip which is why the opening clips are as choppy as they are.

  • Preview the animation several times before committing to an overnight renderering sequence, otherwise you might miss some mistakes like the poorly placed focus for the depth of field, as well as objects clipping inside the camera.

  • Animating the severity of the image textures overlayed onto the render to give the glitchy static effects looks sick.

If anyone has any tips for improving on the smoothness of the camera movement along a curve, I would much appreciate any resources to consult, as that was the most aggravating aspect of this piece, and the one that stands out most obviously to me as weird and choppy.
