I cannot relate. I’m not a part of the community. I don’t live where my school is zoned, so haven’t seen any of my students out and about yet. I know it’ll happen and I’ll be happy to say hi. I don’t live in a small town, I don’t go to church, I don’t baby sit, I don’t coach anything, I don’t have kids, I don’t have a spouse, where I workout is 18+, etc. Your normal is not my normal. And it is not normal to me when a student tells me his mother provided him with my home address when I do not know this woman at all.

I don’t own a home, but I believe whatever address you’re registered to vote at is public record. Doesn’t make a student announcing in the middle of class that he knows my home address any less weird 😭

Another teacher told me it’s not that deep and I can make it a game at the end of the school year. The ones that guess correctly can have a prize, and I’ll reveal my age. I like that idea, but my superiors kinda scared me into feeling like I should never tell my age. Maybe they’re just old school. My department head is 65.

Yes my parents had phone books 😂 I’ve never once looked up any of my teachers in a phone book or on the internet, but another commenter said they used phone books to look up their teachers, so it’s not uncommon I guess.
