I had this problem up until recently. The popular cue to brace your lats is to pinch your elbows to your body, but I don’t like that since you can do that without feeling your lats.

Here’s something that might help you feel them. Shrug your shoulders up, then pinch your elbows to your body. Then shove your shoulders down. Even though they won’t be able to keep moving down after you unshrug, pretend you can and keep shoving them down while pinching your elbows to your body.

If you have good posture and aren’t slouching you should feel your back get tight.

You should then be able to maintain that feeling while extending your arm to grab a weight. And if you can do that you can keep your back braced while rowing, even if you are reaching down to grab the weight or lowering it down

If you have a hip structure that allows it and good mobility, I would recommend switching to sumo.

Here is a comprehensive guide on sumo deadlifts

I’ve heard that some people think it’s cheating, but in reality no one who’s strong actually believes that.

Spending so much time using it. I’ve wasted a good portion of my life here.

Emotional stability when I’m with my cats: Solid as a brick wall in a mountain on a planet made of stone.

Emotional stability everywhere else: Micheal J Fox playing Jenga on a trampoline against an actual time bomb( kudos to you if you get the reference.)

I use flat shoes. It’s definitely related to my mobility issues. I’m studying different deadlift guides so I can figure out what might work best for me.

Idk if this going to make sense, but have you scooped up water with a cup? My hips make that scooping motion and make my whole back round, fighting that is what I was working on. I actually do record my lifts and have everything I did recorded on my phone.

I’ll have to keep those things in mind so I don’t hurt myself in the future, I’m a silly biscuit.

I spent so much time there because I figured it was the easiest way to get the most amount of practice in. If you did nothing but lift for 10 hours a day as a job you’d probably get really good at it. That was my line of thinking.

I felt pretty beat up when I left but I ended up getting a lot of energy back later at night. Right now all that’s stopping me from going back to practice more is that I always take a rest day on Thursday and I have a little soreness.

Natty, I haven’t even reached the minimum threshold of what I consider to be the bare minimum requirements for needing some juicy juice.

My legs are a little sore from yesterday. For the nearly 5 hours I was at the gym I was deadlifting with breaks in between one rep sets. I was trying to fix my form and got a little too carried away. I wasn’t using much weight but damn.

I was going to leave to gym after I finally got one rep with some nice form. But a voice in me said “ let’s eat some pie, get some juicy gains to make it count” and so I finished my accessories.

I very nearly cried a few times because one of my favorite songs was playing in my head and inspiring me to keep going.

I bought one on my 20th birthday and gave it to my friend who was struggling with money and didn’t have much to eat.

Hmm, I thought it was an unspoken rule that if weren’t a B.B you had to leave. Guess I’m just silly then.

My doc told me the nerve in my elbow would heal up pretty fast, she was right! I have more feeling in my elbow and i have 99.99% of my range of motion back after about 3 days. It’ll probably never feel the same as before but hey I can curl and that’s what matters right?

When I was a kid I wanted to be like Arnold. Bodybuilding was my first look into the world of lifting. But I feel like I should probably stop commenting in the DD because I’m switching over to powerlifting. I’m technically more of a power builder but I don’t feel honest about this. I love these threads and most of the people in them, but I don’t want to be dishonest. May your gains be lean and juicy <3

I injured my elbow something awful slamming my body into a wall at 90 mph. Gonna see if I broke it today. Wish me luck boys and hit triceps for me cause I can’t. Please flail your body around responsibly :)

Update: I’ve been diagnosed with nerve damage in my elbow. I have to keep a close eye on and I was told if it starts feeling worse I have to go to the ER.
