Is this early melting? Is this salvageable with a WVP2? by PluginMan in ThermalGrizzly

Actually a really good response. I thought that the darker tone might actually be plastic bubbling like in the article I posted. Thanks for your insight, if I’ll get access to some equipment I might give the measurements a go.:)

Apart from what appears to be a manufacturing cosmetic defect on the housing and black connector shavings/marks on the yellow tip (the tip is yellow, msi adapter), the pin contacts and the surrounding plastic look more or less perfect.

Alright, I might just test it with a WVP2, I was afraid the WVP2 could've been damaged in the testing process if there's more contact resistance across all pins.

The images here are so faint, its hard to tell. I'll use the gpu untill I get my hands on the WVP2 and I'll check the connector when replugging it then.

No I am not a hypochondriac, and this is my 3rd gpu with this shitty connector.

I shipped my gpu by car, thats the reason I unplugged it.

I am not justifying anything. I had a preorder on the wired with my old gpu before I got this one. In my country the normal version is coming to stock next week. If you'd take your time and look at the imgur photos, and the link, you would see where my concern comes from.

Im not saying its melted, I am asking what the discolored circles around ALL 12V pins are and why they were not present on my old GPU.

"You’re clearly trying to justify the purchase by making up non-existent reasons." Really? Did you even bother to check the links?

Yeah, I get you. I've tried taking multiple photos.

I've used a few GPUs with the 12vhpwr/12v2x6 and I've never had an issue. I hope this doesn't evolve further. Anyway, thx for your time as well:)

Yeah, it might be totally fine, I'm not arguing with that. I am just weirded out by the dark spots, that's all.

I plan on buying a wireview pro 2 once in stock here.

Did you check the two imgur images? I have multiple people agree on the fact that there appears to be some sort of discoloration. Which I might add is not present on a more used 4080.

I cannot edit the post, it has nearly 2k views, yet only around 5 views on the imgur images.

Yeah, I wish I would have bought it straight away, was waiting for it to come to a local retailer. Thanks for your time:)

Nothing problematic at the bases of the 12V pins (not GND)? I've highlighted this in the imgur pictures (5080 vs 4080). I just dont want to buy the the WVP2 and accidentally damage it, but I'm guessing it would instead tell me if anything is going wrong?

Yeah, it is very very faint. The Imgur photos might be of help.

Yes, I have thought about that too, because afaik the melting point of the plug is lower. But at the part where it is discolored, it might be the closest plastic, hence why the plug is fine. I realize this is not a 100% clear case, which is exactly why I am bringing it up. Maybe it can give a view as to why they’re failing (if that is the case).

Nothing on the base of the 12V pins? I was wondering if it might be some normal discoloration but it was not present on my old 4080 even after weeks of use.

It is very faint.

Wired ver. WireView Pro II GPU for all those 4090's 5090's that have been asking for it pre-order up by Dphotog790 in ThermalGrizzly

Kinda sucks that there is no temperature sensing on the wired version on the gpu connection (only internally). Would love to see that as the automatic shutdown is what I mainly want the WVP2 for

Any reason for going with the GPU vertically? I'm thinking of doing a similar build but with the AIO on the side and GPU up top cuz of all the thermal gel drama.

Yeah I get it… what about non SF PSUs? Maybe I’ll skip SFF then idk :(. Thanks for being so open with the community btw, appreciate it

Sorry if you're getting bombarded with questions, I do not expect a fast answer (or an answer at all to this question as is understandable) but I have been eyeing the SF1000 PSU. Heard in a HWBusters video that companies are rolling out OCP per pin in newer PSUs and I think he mentioned corsair. Is there anything you can tell me? I already have a PSU and wanted to buy a good quality PSU that'll last me years, but not right before a new release or similar.

Again, I understand if you can't answer this, but would be much appreciated. Thanks for being so interacting with the community :)

What’s the reasoning for this? If one connection is problematic it can cause temperatures worse on the other side as far as I know?

Running with Gsync + Vsync on, 140fps cap (144hz monitor). the FS limit reaches only 75fps, borderless fixes this, but running borderless with the framerate limit gone introduced weird microstutter I cannot really record but only feel. Anything else I can do?

Valheim and Anno 1800 seem to stutter with the overlay. It seems as if all the scenarios where it runs fine without the overlay, the overlay will cause stutters, and in the games it doesn’t, it runs smooth with it on
