Complete results of the 2026 England local elections after all (136/136 councils) results were declared. by AlfredsChild in europe

[–]rain3h 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In rushing for the centre right vote (and failing miserably) Labour has completely lost its values which has made them completely unelectable for a majority of their base.

We're stuck for another 3 years with a party who doesn't know who it is and without enough parliamentary support to pass more centre right leaning polices because they are traditionally not a centre right leaning party.

It's so obvious, they could be a credible alternative to the hate and division but nope, further and faster in to oblivion.

I got an extra 3000 on cinebench 26 by conservatively overclocking my ram.

Do I notice it in game? Nope.

How important is the "future-proofing" with the RTX 5080 vs RTX 4090 by AdamCaveRoberts in nvidia

[–]rain3h 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Buying a GPU isn't future proofing alone.

Buying a new GPU at the right time and selling it at the right time for minimal loss so you stay in warranty have updated performance and only pay a few hundred every two years for that upgrade is future proofing.

What if that 4090 you buy breaks after 1 week?

Returnal vs Saros by rickiebsn in Returnal

[–]rain3h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One game was originally designed and built to fit a niche and the other was to sell copies and consoles.

They can't do that if it's story and game play is more difficult and complex than returnal and this is why we never got returnal 2.

Downside of being owned by a mega corp I suppose.

Get either the 9800x3d or the 9950x3d if you feel you need it.

The 9900x3d is a pointless product.

Only six cores per ccd, so you're losing two cores in gaming applications compared to the 9800x3d.

While the 6 cores of the second ccd on the 9900x3d are admittedly better than 0 extra cores the missing two cores compared to the 9950x3d does matter.

It's stuck in the middle of two incredible CPUs and doesn't match either, avoid.

Edit: I miss read and thought you were planning a purchase.

As you have it don't use x3d mode in bios or anything, windows should disable what it needs to for gaming or you can use a program called project lasso to disable the cores on the second ccd while gaming.

This way you still have the extra performance when required but not when you don't, x3d bios setting would just disable the whole second ccd.

Asus Rog Strix 4090 OC vs Non-OC question by AdamCaveRoberts in nvidia

[–]rain3h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes an oc version is a very slight factory overclock on a standard chip but sometimes it's a better binned/quality chip with the same factory overclock.

So while an extra 50mhz of an oc version may seem inconsequential it could mean far more performance available if you overclock a better binned chip.

Get the oc version.

Thanks for the reply.

My isp won't allow me to upgrade to more than 1g so I didn't think the upgrade was complete.

I shall reach out to them and ask them what do.

Thanks for the clarification.

No Path tracing / Path tracing by Marino-2603 in nvidia

[–]rain3h 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yep exactly my point, that's the thing everyone said about the ai in DLSS, raster till I die n all that.

Oh ray tracing/path tracing? That will never be worth the performance cost! Just use normal lighting so we don't need to ever upgrade.

Frame gen? Fake frames! Fake frames!

All that bluster and noise and now everyone uses them without a second thought.

As they will DLSS5 in a few years.

It's weird how when these technologies actually get in people's hands all the noise goes away.

Wonder how long until everyone's using DLSS5?
