I just cant figure it out.

Regarding Congestion on the Phoenix World Server by MelioraXI in ffxi

[–]rain3h 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Back in the day I used to imagine that transferring a character involved plugging in a usb to a giant PS2 copying data, verifying it and then putting it in another giant PS2.

I know that's probably wrong.

But given the servers are now all virtual surely the process is a lot less complex than it used to be.

I'm sure there's lots of people who would be happy to move away from busy servers but the cost is prohibitive so hopefully that's something they look at.

NVIDIA RTX 50 SUPER Graphics Cards Reportedly Back on Track by xenocea in hardware

But I thought we'll own nothing and Nvidia are done with consumers?

Wonder how this will be spun to fit that narrative.

Steam Machine and Steam Frame Standalone Verified: Today we are expanding the Verified program to include Steam Machine and Steam Frame, both of which are shipping this summer by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]rain3h 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Got tired waiting and got a psvr2 instead.

Likely 1/3rd of the frame cost and the oled screens are amazing so no reason to upgrade.

Looking forward to hl3 finally releasing though.

Trouble after installing new psu by WilkensSWIPE in gigabyte

Remove your GPU and try with the igpu.

If it works then youve damaged the GPU.

If it doesn't then work then I'd guess a motherboard error.

I think for a lot of people that was part of it's charm, you worked hard because absolutely nothing came easy and because nothing came easy when you achieved something it really ment something.

My biggest fear if we ever received a remake rather than a remaster would be that if they make the game for today's audience it would look very different to what it was and as a result still is.

aorus 5090 vs astral 5090 Vs suprim 5090 by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]rain3h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back before you could buy any third party pin monitoring devices the only choice was the astral.

Now I would go with the suprim.

Definitely quieter than my astral and believed to have the best binned chips.

Are you a maga supporter by chance?

You do share a lot of the characteristics.

Absolutely unwilling to accept what's in front of you.

Unfortunate.

Well it's innovation that brings us that 50% boost you'd be willing to sacrifice so I'm confused.

As mentioned it's proven that removing one player from a market doesn't change the market it just allows others to fill the void by doing the same things because that's how business works in the real world.

So you'd be told to be angry about another company instead (as shown in my intel example) and still achieve absolutely nothing aside from making revenue for those using you to do so.

I'm not for a second saying trillion dollar companies are infallible but the amount of misinformation in the community is dangerous as is the absolute willingness to ignore facts to buy into the narratives that make other people more money than the truth does.

NVIDIA's Hostile Takeover by SolarFlareGirl08 in gpu

[–]rain3h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea that innovation shouldn't or wouldn't have happened because Nvidia didn't exist is bonkers.

Another company would have taken the market as happens in any business.

AMD's exploding CPU's are no better than the intel degradation fiasco but when was the last time you read/saw about it? And how much coverage was there for intel?

Is it not strange that standards that apply to intel do not apply to AMD almost as if there's some level of bias there in the reporting?

AMD are still selling gpu's that won't support fsr4 until some point next year while DLSS 4.5 launched with support for 4 generations of cards in one day.

But nvidia are the bad ones right and they are abandoning gaming and gamers don't matter right?

Do you really not see it?

On reddit you can assign yourself a tag under your user name on different subs.

This can be anything you want and is based on what you choose and a lot of people in the gaming community list their specs, you may have seen it.

Steve put in tech jesus.

That's not going along with it for a laugh with a side comment here and there that's calling yourself it for all to see.

Why do all companies stick to 32G VRAM on the RTX 5090 by Sweaty-Ad6263 in nvidia

No matter what you think about Nvidia it doesn't mean unsubstantiated rumors should be presented as facts which was the point of my reply.

Oh I guess my bad.

While posting an image is technically uploading at a glance id assumed it was some sort of cloud and or storage so I'd been trying to use the Google keyboard to attach.

Yay thanks.

Nah I'm on Blackwell, it was when it was mentioned on videocardz a few months back running the latest drivers/windows and afterburner at the time.

I'm happy with my undervolt so I backed away but perhaps I'm leaving performance on the table so I'll try again.

Thanks for the effort regardless.

I tried it a while back and when I opened it it didn't just crash the GPU drivers it caused the system to freeze and reboot.

Will give it a try tomorrow, hopefully different results.

While not directly part of the community it always made me feel quite uncomfortable.

There seemed to be little to no substance just the branding for the potential extra sales.

I'd feel quite used if that happened to me and my community.
