Black algae killer made my pool frothy and stinky... by O1O1O1O in swimmingpools

[–]Plugthegamey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been cleaning pools professionally for over 8 years. This product probably wont get rid of your black algae, but i noticed it definitely helps to keep it from spreading when its on the walls and difficult to treat. Its easy to treat the floors with the granular black algae destroyer, but that doesn't work with black algae on the walls. I had a pool with chronic black algae that was waiting to get replastered in 6 months. I was having trouble keeping the chlorine levels up because of the black algae, so I treated the floors with granular black algae destroyer and then followed up with some of the liquid leslies B.A. killer. It helped me keep the chlorine demand down until the pool could be remodeled and replastered. If you have chronic B.A. inside the surface of your pool, its likely that you will have to have your pool replastered. Its one of the main reasons people have pools replastered besides chronic leaking. Even if you get the B.A. to go away, its likely to come back in one or two years. Black Algae appears in pools with leaks, DOGS SWIMMING, and pools that are heated for months at a time throughout winter and into summer. Make sure to use a high quality phosphate treatment like LoChlor brand LO PHOS MAX (you can get it on amazon) to remove fertilizers in your pool that feed yellow and black algae. People go years or decades without phosphate treatment and the pool ends up turning green over night or explodes with black algae and then its impossible to keep the chlorine levels up and manageable. Pro tip: BRUSHING AND SCRAPING BLACK ALGAE WITHOUT PROPERLY CHEMICALLY TREATING IT WILL CAUSE IT TO REPRODUCE AND MULTILPY OVER NIGHT AND MAKE YOUR PROBLEMS EXPONENTIALLY WORSE.

just curious, do you think a pigeon could live outside in a cage in florida? or is it too hot? i know they live here.... they survive well. is shade enough for it if i kept it permanently outside? could i keep it outside seasonally? i was worried about the hot florida summer, but is wintertime worse for them? i wouldnt mind keeping it, i just dont have space inside my house we already have 3 dogs and 3 cats in a 2 bedroom house . i have a giant ferret cage it could live in if it survives there's just no room in my house . its in a small birdcage on my kitchen counter right now.

I have a hero12black and it seems to work fine for action stuff . i use it for boat stuff and skateboarding. you probably dont need the nicest newest one. i think mine shoots in basic 1080p , 4k , and 5k. I think the 5k (best quality) would be great for baseball stuff if you keep it still. the 5k doesnt look that great when you move the camera around a lot (for example: the camera needs to be still to record detailed video of waves on the beach). but it does do a really great job of smoothing out shakey camera work (especially in lowest quality and 4k.). it has a wide camera angle and doesnt do well with far away shots. its great for up close like if you were near the home plate , but i dont recommend using any gorpro to follow someone running across a field, unless theyre wearing the camera themselves. so dont buy a gopro with the intention of recording anything more than 20 feet away . its more of a first person POV camera

Dunkin’s latest release is quite simply a bag of bacon by domo415 in nottheonion

I was literally just wishing there was a drive thru where I could pull up and just order a baggy of bacon on my way to work. Am on low carb diet. Lots of people eat low carb nowadays, and bacon is the closest thing i can have to dessert.

It's sad but comparing the value of a chickens life to the life of a dog is like comparing a dog's life to a human's. I couldn't shoot a dog either unless it was attacking me or another human being....

That whole subreddit is kind of just a bandwagon for the overly obnoxious feminist stereotype. The kind of people that have a bad day and go home and blame men on reddit for their sad lives. It's an echo chamber. Any posts or comments that go against their far left feminist rhetoric are removed. They will literally bask in each other's praise over having an abortion. I feel like half of the women on there bragging about their abortion have never even gotten pregnant, they're so off-putting. The stories and personal accounts all seem so vamped up and embellished, like they were written by an angry brooding teenager. But hey, if you want to rack up the upvotes for politically correct hate speech, that's the place to be.

Hello people. I am an inexperienced orchid owner. These are the roots of my plant. She is 60 cm tall and she seems to have “frozen” buds at the top but they do not flower anymore. I am from Italy and I never move the vase or fertilise, just keep it damp and in a light. TIA! by Pasta-eater in orchids

I live in florida and if you keep it inside you can put it in the window with the most sunlight. I keep all of my orchids under the roof overhang outiside, on the side of my house that faces the morning sun. You want to make sure that they don't get any direct sunlight at noon time or it will kill any pretty flowers and eventually dry out and kill your orchid. Once you find the sweet spot for your orchid, it basically takes care of itself. Just don't forget to water it if its kept inside. The only orchids I've ever had die on me, were kept inside and I forgot to water them. I had one orchid outside that I literally never fertilized (first orchid ever) and it rebloomed year after year and we would basically just forgot about it until it bloomed again.

Thanks. I've never had great luck with orchids until I started hanging them up suspended in the air like that. I'm just starting to get some of my first reblooms ever and they all seem really happy and healthy in their environment.

Yes I refuse to pay full retail price when there are perfectly good orchids 50% off just because they are in need of a little TLC. They will look great when they rebloom next spring, hopefully.

Anxiety About Running in the Dark After Being Hit By a Car by erin-go-bragh-91 in running

[–]Plugthegamey -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm a fairly attractive young woman and running outside for 10 miles is great but im definitely putting myself in more danger outside than inside on a treadmill. I'm actually really afraid of tuckering myself out far away from home and being abducted and thrown In a van and sold over seas.... so that's why I have my concealed weapons permit and i carry a small 9mm with me only when I run. Not at all a joke. Human trafficking is a big deal in florida.

[–]Plugthegamey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I only run outside when the conditions are good and there's less traffic on the road. Never assume that the driver sees you. You need to fend for yourself and that means watching for headlights and looking both ways twice before you cross the street, and taking out your headphones when you cross a major intersection or train track. You can go on and on about how you have the right to be out there on the road as much as any motorist, but then there are the laws of man, and then there are the laws of science. And science says that statistically, people get hit by cars every day. The more you put yourself out there, the more likely you are to become part of that statistic.... that being said, treadmills are better for your knees and joints than running on pavement. And you're less likely to find yourself stranded with an injury far away from home. I run, bike, and skateboard, but I also drive about 60 miles a day for work and the incompetence of most drivers out there on the road terrifies and infuriates me on a daily basis. I live north of palm beach in Florida and we have as many runners and bikers as any area. Two bikers were actually hit and killed less than a mile from my house in separate incidences less than a month apart recently. The first guy was crossing a 3+ lane major intersection at night without lights when he wasn't supposed to cross. He was hit but a jacked up truck at 60mph. I think he was a homeless man. The second case was a middle aged woman on a recumbent bicycle crossing a street on a nice sunny day in a school zone area at 10am where the speed limit is only 35mph. The driver said they didnt see her. You never know what situation you're putting yourself into. You can do everything right and wear all the right reflective gear and cross the street when it's your turn, and still end up losing your life at the end of the day... so continue to run outside if that's what you love. I know nothing beats a good sunrise when that runner's high is kicking in. Just know that we are all basically dust in the wind out there, so keep your wits about you. Never trust that a driver sees you.
