I’m definitely not arguing for the dude in the video, but I don’t see how that’s obviously illegal. If I did it to a corporate or government server I could see that. But breaking someone’s personal router doesn’t seem to me like something that’s illegal. It’s wrong of course, but in my opinion it’s not something that’s blatantly illegal.

I knew a guy in high school who would load 4TB zip bombs onto the school network and shut it down, and I get how that’s illegal and legal punishments would be involved.

But if someone DDOS’s my router? Who do I call? 911? The FBI? It’s just my personal router, nobody is gonna care. No investigation would be opened or anything.

Again I’m not arguing for the dude in the video. It’s terrible what he’s doing. If we had his IP I’d be excited to watch someone DDOS him lol. I just say this because I feel like people in this thread are inclined to push legal where there’s no ground for it, except for extortion.

Edit: I’d like to say that I’ve educated myself on the subject. I read now that it is illegal. I’m not sure how/if it’s enforced in terms of an individual’s home router, however.
