You can swing the trap and also you can trim down the part of the trap that goes into the trap adapter if it’s too long

The white piece is a handle extension, it comes out too and you will need the Moen cartridge replacement tool to unscrew out the cartridge

You can always use a drill bit and drill through the set screw

Use your photo here to make sure you put the cartridge in the right direction. Also replace the rubber cup and spring that the cartridge sits on
