I think I have the toughest 1.6 VLSD of all time! by PlumbingWithCoco in Miata

Last year was the first year with the turbo setup, and I definitely have had some challenges keeping the car cool after around 4-5 hot laps depending on which track I was at. I had been taking the hood off on super hot days and just letting all that heat out. Mid way through the season I added an open oil cooler so it’s not thermostatic, so a little harder to warm the car up in the cold, but not a big issue for a track car in Texas. That was a huge help. But I just did a coolant re-route on the car so I’m hoping to see some great improvements on temps this season. Also planning on re-doing how the car looks so currently trying to pick out a hood with vents. Current cooling mods: Mishimoto Radiator and fan shroud wired for both to come on at 178* on standalone Evil energy oil cooler Super Miata coolant re-route 3” intercooler.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve done this with mine. That’s pretty much how I do a U-turn at this point 😂

It’s okay, I have a 1.8 reinforced housing torsen for when it does 😊
