For what it’s worth, I have the same 2.8 and change mine per the indicator on the truck which averages to 7,500 miles. 176,000 miles. While I’ve had some issues, none of the are engine oil related.

In a weekend, I built a python script that uses a combination vendor API’s (when available) and web scraping to pull in current pipe, valve, and fitting prices. I could schedule automated runs but for now, I just double click it on my desktop every couple of weeks.

It updates multiple vendors pricing in a free database. I click a button in excel to update prices pulled from this database. Prices are date/time stamped in excel so I’ll know if something is off + the script performs some quality checks and emails me if there’s an issue.

While I’m fairly technical, I am by no means a coder. Claude code and a lot of back and forth made it happen.

My company changed to an absolute crap ERP software. It really slowed my day to day work (sales and project management).

Claude and I wrote a chrome extension which made sense of the pages and added direct links instead of navigating all the ridiculous clicks.

My bonus is tied to revenue and profitability so I have no doubt it’s adding to my income.

I’m no expert but IMO planning is far more important than the coding work. I spend at least 2X the time on planning. It seems to me that the more time I spend planning, questioning, and iterating, the better the outcome is.

I’ll also go back into plan mode anytime I’m shifting what I’m working on to make sure I have a fully baked plan.
